I don't know enough about either to weigh in but tbh XTC at least have the pop chops to hang with the Beatles. But I'd say the Buzzcocks beat the both of them to death just on the back of Singles Going Steady.

I'm impressed by Orbison's ability to phonetically differentiate between "Beatle" and "Beetle".

My unpopular opinion:

Nirvana is the worst out all 90s grunge bands, and overall overrated. Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, STP and Alice in Chains are much better.

Pearl Jam is indeed Pearl Jam but they're nowhere near the **** tier that STP rules.
