I agree with this, I think the reason for this is because the first album is filled with songs they played in clubs for years before they were signed that got the best reactions from crowds, every album after that are songs that did not get years of being tweaked and road tested.

Bruce Springsteen is freaking bad.

In my entire life I liked literally just one song of his – State Trooper. And that was when I was 15 and was really desperate to find some new music that was cool.

I really like his voice timbre though. I think he'd make for a great singer if only his material was good. But as it is, he is forever labeled in my mind as "cringe rock" or "80s ****".
