Great ****ing choices. No notes. Achilles was one of those songs that I first heard in a cool setting and I've loved it ever since.

I take it you're not a metal head

Yeah, I'll admit Led Zep would have made/ did make a great acoustic band, but they really were at their best when they were emulating the blues. Still, III rates as my favorite Led Zep because of their forays into acoustic blues.

The noisier the better. My single favorite LZ song is Communication Breakdown (followed by Kashmir though)

To paraphrase Page, the magic of Zeppelin is light and shade, the deep dark dynamics interspersed with the delicate. Remove one and you diminish the other.

As for my own taste, I love it when LZ combines the light and shade in the same song. Witness "Ten Years Gone", for example.

Speaking of "Ten Years Gone," I came across this version a couple of days ago. I guess I didn't pay any attention to it before, because I've never been into The Black Crowes but I thought they did a fine job backing up Jimmy Page...

Thanks for posting that, Psy - the Crowes did a great job there, they nail the essence and passion of the song. Such beautiful chords - that D6add9 right after "really need 'em bad" is heart-stopping!

My favorite Zep song by far.

This has to be nearly a bannable opinion.

Greatest Zep song by a good margin.

Ten Years Gone is the best Zeppelin song no one ever talks about, glad to see it getting some love.
