How do you figure that? Dickinson's favourite singer was Gillan back in the day... and I can't see any further similarity really... they both use vibrato and have good ranges.

And as for the twin leads thing, I wouldn't consider that a rip-off - it's just a natural development in guitar. I mean think of how many bands started using it at around the same time. Why is it a crime that Iron Maiden should use the technique later on as well?

Never said it was a crime , I seem to remember either Steve Harris or Dave Murray saying the whole reason they did the duel leads thing was directly because of Thin Lizzy.

As for Child In Time , obviously there's the whole Dickinson / Gillen thing and it's hardly a secret that Maiden borrowed heavily from Deep Purple , including the same producer , using the same studios , even calling the title of one of their records as a homage to Deep Purple's Made In Japan album. But just listening to it , it just struck me that the whole structure of the song could be found in almost any Iron Maiden song.
No scientific fact to prove it , just a feeling I had hearing it.

Probably Dave Murray as Steve Harris was and is a prog rock freak, which you can definitely hear in their music. Adrian Smith was into Jethro Tull and Humble Pie. You can hear some Deep Purple in Maidens music, but I have never equated their sound to be similar. On the subject-NUMBER OF THE BEAST is my least favourite Maiden album from debut through to 7th Son.

Default Unpopular Music opinions.

I always agreed with the opinions that 'Nikkie Sixx' (incorrect spelling)? is underated as a guitarist/artist. I never cared for Vince Neal's vocals. But always thought, As a band, Motley Crue was awsome! Tommy Lee, a good drummer. Always wondered how they would sound with, say.... A Chris Cornel, style of lead vocalist? Of coarse I dont see Cornel singing a song about smokin in the boys room. 'Dr. Feelgood', is when I really started to notice, & like the talent & style of Motley Crue. (without Neal)? Maybe that is why some suggest, Sixx is underated.
