Yeah I completely agree, I don't think I need to bother replying to his post since its obvious we won't see eye to eye on it.

None of those bands are nearly as successful as Green Day nor have they combined had a thirteen year career. And if the Ramones had Boobs like Jessica Simpson they'd be number one on my list. Popularity however does mean ****, it's just not everything. The groups you named are fads they will go as quick as they came. Look at New Kids on the Block, n'Sync and the Back street men or Brittney Spears and Tiffany as examples. The cream always rises over time homey.
What about Madonna? Shes managed to remain successful from the 80s till now, shes been more successful the green day and popularity shouldn't play a huge hand in a top 50 list, since popular music is usually substanceless garbage.

I am not afraid to admit when i am wrong. System of a Down is off the list completely despite the fact I like them better then at least 30 of the artists on the list. That's just one example, Bad Company, Jack Johnson, Ben Folds are three other personal favorites that will not touch this list.

Can you and I find common ground? We're both clearly huge music fans which makes us way cooler then most people right?
W0rd, I just don't think Green Day have brought anything new to the table or done much other then provide merchandise for hot topic and they don't even compare to the Ramones.

I guess I gotta take a hard look at this.

Your opinions on Green Day sucks, you must be in your twenties right?

I make that assumption only because it seems like the twenty-somethings are the ones who don't like Green Day in my experience. Either way you seem to know your stuff and any Velvet Underground fan is a fan of mine.

@ Cowquill

Alright I see your point. I'm keeping them on the list because I still think they belong, but they will go way down to the bottom third. I just listened to Rocket to Russia on LP and The Ramones have to stay on the list. I hope you'll reconsider Green Day if you like them at all and not hold them responsible for MTV's garbage culture embracing them.

Your arguments against green day don't seem to get them off the list.

And your reasoning for 311 was borderline absurd. Where did you hear 311 before 311?

You're telling me you can't find one reason that the ramones and green day and comparable? I can think of about 6. Actually Green Day might be more comparable to the Ramones than any other punk band of the past.
