I actually think the Oscar is probably the most conducive award to shove up ones rear end, from a design perspective. Or a People's Choice award, but that could really hurt. The grammy is too boxy and the emmy has those wings poking you in the ass. Just sayin'.

It's really a shame that the 'Splits only got to do the one album and never got a chance to escape the stigma of being a 'fake' band, the way the Monkees finally did. Still, one wonders how they might have survived in the long term. Their crazy antics were already pretty frantic. Bingo appeared to have violent mood swings (he was a gorilla after all) and Drooper clearly was on some kind of downers. Probably Reds and beer, which was popular among bikers at the time. (Why do you think they called him Drooper?) And I'm not sure Snorky was carrying much of a load either. Like Peter Tork, he was the innocent; the 'dummy' of the group, but unlike Peter, who, in real life was a gifted musician and the 'musical glue' of the Monkees, I really don't think Snorky could actually do much but beat his tamboreen and honk his trunk.

Alas, it's easy to get lost in speculation about what might have been, but then, the band that burns twice as bright also burns twice as fast.

Reported in Bubblegum is the Naked Truth, Snorky, played Rhythm Guitar in Jughead's All Star Jug Band. Still, even after helping him, Drooper was dissed out by Snorky. He still needs to learn some life lessons.

Bingo and Droopy would have had thier share of Music Projects, with the first one possibly following some wacky West Coast trend. Possibly acting in a number of ill fated low budget Exploiation films that would only play in a few areas of the US before being hidden in a vault, possibly being thrown out before some Rare Film Collector would take an interest in getting them turned into a video.

As for Fleegle, some of the critics wonder if he would be the over-ambitious leader who would try to get them to do a Concept Album and either lose it a la Brian Wilson or go on a Joe Meek/Phil Spector trip. Still, he seems too good natured to follow that Big Project path, too Soulful. I kind of like to think that following the footsteps of Barry White, he would have turned into more of that type of leader.

(To those wondering...you know we're just kidding on this subject, although the bit about Jughead's band was actually from the Feral House book in it's fantasy section,)
