I love Brendan Perry. His voice is just magical. Back in the day when I was listening to Dead Can Dance extensively, I was always noticing songs that Lisa Gerrard sang first, but later the ones with Perry grew on me even more. Now I can say that some of my favorite Dead Can Dance songs are usually with Brendan Perry singing.

Sadly, I've never heard any of his solo albums. I think I might change that.

Perry has an absolutely amazing, really powerful voice, and a talent for a good lyric as well. I'm not sure who I prefer as Dead Can Dance's vocalist, as I love Lisa Gerrard's voice too, but his style does songs like Tell Me About the Forest, Black Sun and Enigma Of the Absolute a world of good - a handful of my favourite DCD numbers there.

He's only got two solo albums, one of them of course being the above. He released Eye Of the Hunter just after DCD split, and I'm not really a fan of it to be honest - it's totally different from his previous work, but just not very memorable to me. The new one sounds a lot more like DCD, which is fine by me.

I love Ghost Mice, I love Andrew Jackson Jihad. Cementville is definitely the Ghost Mice anthem (aside from Free Pizza For Life), simple acoustic punk with great lyrics on both sides of the split.

Unbelievably intense and purposely dramatic. Pretty much a source of energy on its own. This is 'something' on crack, but I don't quite know what that something is yet.

Good call sir Wouldn't be a bad idea to get hold of Scott 3 if you like that as well.

Lucinda Williams - World Without Tears

Fairly slow stuff in the main, and just as well-written and produced as anything else of her's I've heard. It's an album for adults when all's said and done, ie something that any of us who've been round the block a few times and through quite a bit can really relate too. My joint-favourite album from possibly my favourite American singer/songwriter of the last 10-15 years.

It's by asians, I'm pretty sure! Japanese, I think. It's Zeuhl-esque (ie. avant-prog in the vein of Magma) but like I said, it's much more volatile... And insane.
