Sometimes the more "psychedelic" leaning psych bands can be a little heavy handed in their progressiveness, but these guys nail it completely. The songs naturally flow in and out of more experimental numbers and straight ahead psychedelic rock. They also have a very unique sound for being so easily labeled psychedelic rock. I'm thoroughly addicted to this album right now, I can't wait to check out their other stuff.

Dude, "Dins" was all I played when it first came out. I have pretty much every Psychic Ills album on some form of psyical format or another because of "Dins". I was somewhat dissapointed with "Mirror Eye" and their following 2 EPs at first, but only because they took on a more experimental sound which I soon grew accustomed to. There are three things I love about psyhic ills... funky basslines, sitar like guitar riffs, and the hypnotic drums which they still keep to their sound to this day. The bass player they have is very attractive as well.

Got into this a bit late, but haven't put it down. Richey Edward's lyrics seem to inspire the lads to write the most unbelievable music - their best album since The Holy Bible I think, sometimes I even get fits of thinking it's better...

Still haven't bothered with that album, despite the amount of times I've been told I should. It's probably alright, but I'm still reeling from the horrors of Send Away the Tigers, even after 3 years :p:

One of these days I guess.

Snowing- I Could do Whatever if I Wanted

Really fun Indie-Emo album. I personally think they've made alot of improvements since their EP. I like that the guitars aren't quite as mathy this time around. I really like the vocals on this alot too. My favourites songs are: Mark Z. Danlewski, I Shotgunned a Beer and Went to Sleep , and KJ Jammin.

Fux da haterz, this is a great album

I never understood why people hated that album, I thought it was a pretty worthy follow up to Smash, maybe all the haters just played Crazy Taxi too much.

Anyhow I have really been digging these two albums.

Collective Efforts - Freezing World (2010)

Grabbed this on a whim and what a whim it turned out to be because this is one of my favorite hip hop albums of the year. It's incredibly laid back and mellow, but has some great flow to each song and some really uplifting lyrics with some great references to African American poetry of the early half of the 20th century. It also features a full backing band which only adds to the awesomeness, definitely an album to look into if you're after something new that has really gone under the radar for the year.

Panacea - 12 Step Program (2010)

My first experience with Panacea, but I'm pretty sure I've seen their name mentioned here or on some other forum for awhile. I'm even convinced that last.fm has recommended me them before, but I guess I never bothered to check them out. Better late than never in any case, like with Collective Efforts, this is a pretty laid back album with some great flow, as well as some great production and use of samples. Definitely going to go back and look at their discography and start cherry picking albums.

Faith No More - Angel Dust

I've always liked FNM, but I never truly appreciated this album until a long drive home yesterday. Now I can see why it is considered their best by a lot of fans. Every song on there is really good...

^ Indeed. A friend on another forum just got to see them two nights in a row in LA!

Masayuki Takayanagi - Free Form Suite

I was told that this was predominantly free jazz/improv... Which is very, very confusing. The first two songs lack a very distinct 'free improvisation' touch to them. In fact, they're just straight-up great jazzy-blues standard-esque pieces that come across as original, uncompromising recordings. The next four pieces (technically it's only two pieces, but my version has the suite split into three parts) begin to gradually grow more and more original, psychotic and surprising, until you finally arrive at the last part of the suite, which is just a mind****. Not completely dense and impenetrable, mind you, but it's a mind****. I'm tempted to say it's more modal than it is free, but it's great either way. A successful bridge of the two different faces of jazz.

Basically, I finally found a working, full-length stream of the Scott Walker 30 Century Man documentary (after a good 3 or 4 years of looking), so I thought it was high time to give his discography a spin again. Oddly enough for how much I've listened to him in the past, it's been a really long time since I last gave more than 2 or 3 of his songs a go in quick succession.

^ Can't get enough of that one at the minute.

Bedhead - WhatFunLifeWas
Bedhead - Transaction De Novo

Oh yeah. Cracking album/band. Sounds a bit like a Codeine and Slowdive mix to me (dreamy, slow music. wonderful.)

Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate) - What It Takes To Move Forward

I'm falling in love with this album. So emotional. Music for my breaking heart...
