Just discussing on the Death Cab for Cutie board, how great a song "Passenger Seat" is.... a really simple heartfelt, poignant song that endures in my memory...

This ones for you, dac. Haha.

No, but really. It is one of my favourite love songs.

Two of my favourites:

"Slender bride, your beauty shines from you
And forever more, I'll be on your side for sure".

Good line in this song: "I dont believe in may things, But in you I do"

djchameleon 06-29-2009 07:51 AM

these are my two favorites at the moment

"I can't tell one from the other - Did I find you or did you find me?"

That line encompasses everything it means to be in love, I think

cche16 07-03-2009 08:31 PM

Too many!

scottsy 07-03-2009 11:47 PM

Not a love song, but a whole album.... 16 Lovers Lane by the Go Betweens.... pretty much writes and reads out the book of love in ten short tracks and forty two minutes.... I love this album.

Lain_Lain 07-09-2009 01:30 PM

Madonna - Take A Bow

I always thought this song was so pretty and the lyrics were perfect. I can listen to it and never get tired.

jackhammer 07-10-2009 07:28 AM

I'm in a Cure mood today and remembered that I have an album of them doing their tracks acoustic so what better than this bit of class?

I also always thought Close to Me was a really great, atypical love song too.

I know I am biased as a seriously huge REM fan, but I have always loved "Be Mine" by REM from the New Adventures in Hi Fi album.... just a sweet quirky in places, but well written love song...

New favorites. Thanks for posting them.
I don't think I can understand love, so deciding a favorite would be stupid.

Bulldog 08-02-2009 01:02 PM

A few favourites that spring to mind. Stop me if I've posted these before...

tassels 08-03-2009 03:32 PM

I love Glycerine by Bush, and Peaceful easy feeling by the Eagles. Old school, I know, but their lyrics are more unique than a lot of modern day love songs.

rochka57 08-07-2009 01:06 PM

My all-time favorite love song is "You Belong to Me" by Jo Stafford :) It is SOOOO pretty, and her voice is just amazing.

scottsy 08-07-2009 11:39 PM

"Your Own Special Way" by Genesis is its own cryptic little love tale,b which I enjoy immensely.

Some of Neil Finn's love songs are just amazing and otherworldly wonderful... I am thinking of such stellar tracks as Fall At Your Feet, Message to My Girl, Private Universe, Try Whistling This.... and the list just goes on...

janok 08-19-2009 09:54 AM

my love

scottsy 08-19-2009 09:23 PM

Just got listening to "You're So Great" by Blur and it struck me, what wonderfully subtle great love song, its quite gorgeous in the same way REM's "Be Mine" is lyrically... although both songs are markedly different musically...

Hey! What a great song... always loved that one... takes me back to riding to school in my parents car listening to my favorite Dire Straits compilation tape...

Victory Guy 09-07-2009 10:43 PM

Another one of my faves... Song for a Sleepwalker by Something for Kate..... great tune!

Bulldog 10-05-2009 12:31 AM

Was just listening to this uber-cool song again, and it reminded me of this thread

Arya Stark 10-05-2009 12:35 AM

Simple. Loving. Cute.

JesseB5446 10-05-2009 01:00 AM

:love:I haint sceered to say, "This really is a thread for me." I have a passion for putting slow jamz together. Thanx, jackhammer. Even though you seem like you're kicking yourself for starting it.

Yes. Great tune. I discovered this tune from the High Fidelity soundtrack which is, coincedentally, is a great love "movie". One of my "top 5" (if you've ever seen the flick). Highly reccommended.

I just spent 6 months living in the tiny Maine town where he's from. The song is so eerily beautiful and really echos the vibe of the town in winter.

Satchel, this was such a magnificent song (and artist), I can't even begin to desribe. Thanx for the turn-on to RL.

I have to shout out Jon B's album Cool.Relax. Which is more of a bedroom groove. That's a thread I'd love to see. (Sorry. Ladies man.;))

But of all my faves, I'd have to say just about ANYTHING from Sade. If her voice and the bands groove don't move you, your a lost cause in the game of love. If I had to pick just one, it'd be Cherish the Day(maybe).

Arya Stark 10-05-2009 01:03 AM

Oh wow. Sade. It's been a while.

jackhammer 10-07-2009 04:11 PM

I have a huge soft spot for a lot of Sades music even though everything screams at me to hate it. Cherish The Day is a fantastic song. The bassline on Never As Good As The First Time is one of my favourites too.

Arya Stark 10-07-2009 04:13 PM

Pfft. Completely pass my song, Lee.

It's fine. I won't be upset or anything.....

My humble apologies. I did listen to it but it's a little too 'twee' for my tastes :(
