Or really any QOTSA album for that matter. |
^
Riffs drilled into you, Josh Homme is also a very underrated lyricist IMO. One that's always puzzled me: http://midnightcafe.files.wordpress..../05/murmur.jpg All I heard of this album was bland and boring.. Can anyone shed any light on why people think this is a great album? |

This. I don't hear what everyone else hears. I just don't get the big deal, though I haven't heard it in a couple of months or so. I may listen again tomorrow to give it a fairer chance. |
I love that album, I've checked out other stuff from the band that was good but nothing touched this, it's just great, proggy pop rock. The production is great and the only song I don't really like is Chupacabras. IMO one of the best rock albums of the 90s.
|
I dig a few choice songs (Chupacabras, the welsh tune), but that's about it really.
|
I have another one, it's alright but I don't get how people rate it so highly

After 5 complete listens over a period of 4 months, I've decided that this is an extremely average album, if even that. Also, I try not to let religious themes and lyrics interfere with my enjoyment of music, and I usually succeed, but this album..... I feel like I'm sitting around a campfire at Catholic camp in the woods, listening to my group leader aimlessly strum away at his guitar while praising Jesus. Ugh. |

 you dissed hella. it's a known fact that Biblical Violence is a math rock anthem. i grew up on this album, man! |

Well that about sums it up, it's a great album but not without it's short comings as demonstrated, and it is indeed pretty overrated but so is pretty much anything popular with hipster c*nts these days. |
Stop picking on IAAOTS! :(
|
That's what you get for picking on Radiator muthaf*cka.

Heh. And indie fans call Doors lyrics pretentious.
Though I actually love the lyrical absurdity of Aeroplane. Still indie f*gs have stange idea of what constitutes a lyrical genius. |

Owl City makes me want to stab kittens and eat their eyeballs.
I find any religious themes on ITAOTS are presented in a negative light. Quote:

Me explaining why I like the album "Homesick" by A Day To Remember;
First off; one of the best albums in it's genre... probably because they are more or less alone in their genre post-punk-hardcore-pop. The catchiness of pop, the energy of punk and hardcore and the moodchanges and breakdowns from post-core and metalcore all combined with well put together lyrics and melodies to create an album which in its holeness is freaking awesome - basically. The opening track "The Downfall of us All" is a fantastic track, which grows on you - certainly has the pop element in it. My Life for Hire has one of the sickest breakdowns ever, and is in all a great track aswell. I could go on and one, but I choose to summarize to; Homesick is a great album with all kinds of different versions of the genre Hardcore in it. Hope you check it out ;) |

Battles (they have the same guitarist as don cab) (check out atlas) Explosions in the Sky (check out their album Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place) and of course, And So I Watch You From Afar. (check out their song Don't Waste Time doing things you hate) also, the math rock (too bad it's not instrumental, though) band this town needs guns is pretty cool, and i highly enjoy them. and if you like math rock, go download slint's album "spiderland" it pretty much created both math rock and post rock. but let me warn you that not much of this stuff is as awesome as "what burns never returns". it's one of the best math rock records ever recorded. the only thing that comes close is battles, but they're not quite the same. |
I considered that NMH might be questioning or even satirizing religion somewhere around my 3rd listen of the album, then decided against it.
I really want to delete the album from my collection but then I won't score mad points with any indie hipsters I might meet in the future. |
