I wouldn't call it bad, but I never really cared for it either.

Master of Puppets ftw.

I cant stand AJFA either. Terrible production and they badly missed Burtons sense of melody.

Overlong , boring , badly produced and grossly over-rated just because it's 'old' Metallica.
How dare you

We easily dare because we can. The production has no bass whatsoever and shamefully omits any input Jason Newstead may have had. The title track alone is an embodiment of exactly what Thrash was railing against-progressive, unecessary musical ramblings with no path in mind. Ulrichs drums sound like biscuit tins but that is not surprising due to his ego. He loves the sound of his drums drowning everything else out. What else? Oh yeah. Despite ONE being a half decent song, Metallica done what they said they would never do-make a video that was commercial enough to be on MTV. By the way, I am not someone who knows feck all about Metallica. I seen them twice on this tour and proclaimed them my favourite band of all time. Time has (gladly) proved me wrong. They are a very important metal band, but they certainly are not one of the best.

No. I love the first album. I put a track (Pretty Thing) into a comp I posted on here. I don't see the problem. He did'nt use the Bowie name and was admirable in it's failure. There is some good stuff going on in the debut that needs reappraisal I think.

I thought the first album was great too, but then again I wasn't aware of any subsequent albums until now

That one I'll give you but people have since remixed the songs and added bass in (if it's any consolation)

AJFA, the song, is fucking awesome. Just because they didn't write to conform to the 'thrash' stencil and wrote some music how they wanted to write it without worrying if they were going match this preconcept of what 'thrash metal is 'pose to sound like' doesn't mean it was bad.

Drums sounded fine to me, listen to Dyer's Eve the drums kick ass (especially during the verses( 'dear mother, dear father')).

As it turns out, one is one of my least favorites on the album, it takes way too long to get to the good part =)

They wrote the song before they made the video, please foregive them for thier sins.

How can you compete (let's just talk about AJFA here) with Dyers Eve, Blackened, Frayed Ends of Sanity, Shortest Straw, I mean the whole album? It's simply balls to the wall awesomeness.

There was a follow up but even I have to say that it was poor. It was imaginatively called Tin Machine II.
