ZutonFever840 12-29-2004 04:03 PM

Ok Computer is an awesome cd!!
They are good for many reasons for one their original sounding, and They are a British band but their music doesnt sound british!!!!!

I think Radiohead is slightly overrated, mainly because they often use a pop The Smiths-kind of sound and uses studio and production tweeks to make it sound the way it does. They are more form than they are content. But, don't get me wrong, I can definitely listen to some Radiohead songs, like "ideoteque" and "fake plastic trees"

"Lucky" is more depressing... for me anyway. "Exit Music (For a Film)" is still a big downer tho...They are a kinda depressing band... :(
I like that about Radiohead tho, it allows me to relax - makes me think a bit, you know? :yeah:

yea, they wouldnt sound right doing an upbeat song. sail to the moon on hail to thief is my audio sleeping pill- not because its boring but because it is as chilled out as you can get!

zerophyte 01-01-2005 04:31 PM

yeah, sail to the moon is a great song... the only thing about that album is it's too many different types of music mashed together... most of the songs are good tho....when taken in isolation.

Radiohead

Alright, I couldn't believe these guys didn't have a thread but anyway...

Im pretty bad at knowing which CD's are "the good ones" by an artist and which are supposed to be terrible. Heres the deal: I owned OK Computer and was at the store last night and thought, I should buy a new Radiohead CD. And again, I have no idea whats presumed to be great. I've heard some crap about Kid A but wasn't too sure about it since it had techno influence. I ended up buying Hail to the Theif. Im listening to it now, but how was this one perceieved.

If this considered a masterwork too, like OKC and KidA, or was this some crazy left turn? Whats the deal MB? Oh and should I have picked up a diffrent one instead?

SATCHMO 06-06-2005 10:15 PM

My fave is Kid A. I think its their best album, but not many agree with me. Most will likely say Hail to the Theif or Pabo Honey.

TheBig3 06-06-2005 10:23 PM

As what their best? Becuase until There, There and after, I don't like HTTT very much. I think OKC is amazing.

SATCHMO 06-06-2005 10:37 PM

I Don't like anything until Kid A. I think that people who love Radiohead Generally have different preferences than people who aren't all abut them. I think Radiohead are a great band, but Thom York gets on my nerves. I think he sounds whiney.

Sneer 06-07-2005 07:06 AM

im so glad you did this thread. radiohead are one of my favourite bands ever. the best album they've made in my opinion is the bends. even better then OK computer. hail to thief is good as is amnesiac. i wouldnt get pablo honey due to the fact apart from creep its not a very good album. but definetly get the bends.

TheBig3 06-07-2005 09:03 AM

Doea The Bends have "Just" on it?

Yeah, I own The Bends and it's like more of just a chill c.d.
Surprising considering Pablo Honey.
The Bends has "Just" on it.

If I had to buy another Radiohead c.d. I'd buy OK Computer because I don't want to hear the techno influences on Kid A.

I wouldn't buy Pablo Honey because I checked it out and the only good song on there is "Creep".

I wouldn't want Hail to the Thief because although it'd probably sound good, Radiohead's been together way too long and it's started to all blend together.
However, I did like the song "Idioteque" I think that was on HTTT.

For me, it's between HTTT and OKC.

And I like Yorke's voice, it's chill.

Imonlydancing 06-07-2005 01:29 PM

yeah, the bends has just on it. my favorite radiohead albums are the bends and ok computer, the song they did for Romeo and Juliet is awesome too. they are actuall genius. my old science teachers nephew is thom yorke :)

the bends..chill? i think its the rockiest album they've done. ok computer is a lot more ambient and softer then the bends. and i cannot believe you wouldnt buy an album because the bands ben together too long. HTTT is one of their best....you say that yourself- yet you wouldnt buy it.....

I think the Idea of Kid A being a "techno influenced" album is a bit overblown. Its a very "electronic" album, but I don't think there's anything on it that could be even construed as being techno.

Well I haven't heard any albums other than a couple songs from HTTT and Kid A, so I wouldn't know what to compare The Bends to, that's why I assumed more of their stuff was louder and faster.

And yes, I think that HTTT might be really great but I don't want to buy that because of the great reviews OK Computer got.

I was saying that if I could only buy one c.d. I would buy OK Computer.
But, if I could buy two then I would definitely buy HTTT.

From the songs I heard on HTTT though, it sounds like a lot of their other stuff, and if it broke down to it, I would want to listen to their earlier stuff, not older, to get a better feel for them first.

Actually, "Idioteque" is from Kid A.

Trauma 06-07-2005 09:38 PM

^
Ahhh, I heard it on the television lol, I thought it was from their new one.
Yeah, the only songs I've heard from HTTT then are "2+2=5" and "Where I End and You Begin"

Kid A is not techno. true its the most progressive, experimental thing radiohead have ever done but as someone pointed out- it focuses heavily on electronics and studio effects. and i think personally its a very good album. though amnesiac is far better.

PopIsDead 06-09-2005 12:25 PM

I like every Radiohead album a lot, except Pablo Honey. Pablo Honey just didn't have much on it worth listening to except "Creep."
