I can't believe I'm saying this in a Radiohead thread of all places, but ever since giving A Moon Shaped Pool so many listens, I've been listening to their other releases, and I've been enjoying them quite a bit.

I gave Kid A a good full listen last night and I found it to be incredible, probably one of my favorites of their past releases. I'm giving The Bends a listen today, and I don't know how I missed this album in my initial listen of Radiohead, but I'm really liking this as well. I've really been missing out. Don't call me a fanboy, but I admit that they've made some pretty damn good albums.

You have some crazy competition that you'll have to match if you want to be called a Radiohead fanboy.

Oh believe me, I know. I don't want to be considered one because I really don't consider myself one at all. I like a few of their albums, that's about it for now.

Why don't you want to be associated with radiohead fans? They can't be as bad as, say, tool fans.

They're both about at the same level. Not as bad as juggalos, but worse than most other music fans.

Ol’ Qwerty Bastard 08-02-2016 12:14 PM

Radiohead fans > Tool fans > Juggalos > Frownland

Frownland 08-02-2016 12:16 PM

Why are we comparing songs to fans now?

Does that make it sound any less outrageously pretentious though?

Not in France.

Not when his last name is even more pretentious.

Pablo Honey > King Of Limbs > Amnesiac > Hail To Thief > The Bends > Kid A > In Rainbows > OK Computer

If you look at it backwards, it starts to make a little more sense, doesn't it?

I'm not sure how I've missed this up until now - but Thom Yorke got behind the decks and DJ'd for a King of Limbs remix release party for Boiler Room - it's just what you'd expect a Thom Yorke DJ set to sound like.

adidasss 06-18-2021 09:30 PM

It doesn't really seem like he knew what he was doing...

SGR 06-19-2021 06:39 PM

Yeah, I'll admit, he didn't really know what he was doing. His mixing sucked. Ignore the video and the crowds though - Boiler Room sets usually feature a group of people who are not really into dancing.

To me, I thought it was really cool that Thom would go out of his comfort zone and do something like this. Despite his lack of mixing ability, his song selection was on point, and I think that's at least 75% of what it takes to be a good DJ.

I won't lie, I'd pay good money to see Yorke do a full 60 hour DJ set.

Yeah I don't know where they find these people, they couldn't look more bored. Imagine being 2 meters away from Thom Yorke and spending most of your time browsing your instagram feed or whatever.

It's a minus when it comes to their sets to be honest, but I'm thinking maybe the original intent wasn't so much visual as audio (as in radio).
