the New Pearl Jam album is really good though, up there with Vitalogy and No Code, excellent album, how would you rate the new MV album with Frances and Deloused?

swim 08-19-2006 01:37 PM

The new Pearl Jam album is shite. And Pablo Honey is a great album I don't care what all you people have to say.

WTF is wrong with the new Pearl Jam album?

Pablo Honey is a good album, I never said it wasn't

I think it was more of a paranoid self defence aimed at everyone not just you. A lot of people think Pablo Honey isn't the best

andy 08-19-2006 02:48 PM

Personally I think it's their worst album, probably on par with the bends, but it is still above average

swim 08-19-2006 03:29 PM

Well, Pablo Honey is my favorite. I think The Bends is horrible, I can't even listen to it.

exunctly.
if i recorded songs full of drowning&screaming cats, with badly played recorders in the background, it'd be original, but utter crap.

radiohead are just scarily blown out of proportion. which in turn makes me hate them more. i know thats probably lame, but, im sure ill live.

Ok, a good band is like a sandwitch, all of which consists of things inside. Let's take some examples and bands.

Shit Sandwitch (Mainstream Rap [50 Cent]) - Sandwitch full of shit
Bread and Butter (Most Bands) - Tasty But extremely Plain and lacking depth and taste
Ham Sandwitch - (Average Rock Band) - Plain, but adds a certain flavour (the ham) and distinct taste
Subway sandwitch (Bands like Tool, Radiohead, Yes) - Tasty, very tasty, unique and appealing and fills your eating needs

Of course there are things in between these categories too and these are only examples

P.S forgive me if I spelled Sandwitch wrong

What if I don't like a subway sandwich? What if I prefer ham? This is why I get bugged by Radiohead fans, they need to constantly state how original and brilliant radiohead are to people who aren't obessive fans. Just let it go you don't need to reply to every post not praising them.

MoonlitSunshine 08-20-2006 06:22 PM

Meh, I don't like Radiohead cause they're original, I like them cause they're a bloody good band. And No-one can deny that!

Yeah, I know, I just like a good 'ol argument to be honest, we are so obsessive generally because once you get into Radiohead, you tend not to get out

Yes, that is the answer:afro:

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-21-2006 06:02 AM

I never used to be a big Radiohead fan.

This might sound odd but it was Kid A that made me a radiohead fan even though I didn`t like it that much (At first). It was just nice to see a band take a totally different direction and do it well.

And being the best live band I have ever seen helps too

MoonlitSunshine 08-21-2006 06:04 AM

^ yep, and I see them on thursday!

Urban Hat€monger ? 08-21-2006 06:07 AM

I`d love to see them again , I probably will the next time they tour.

After having forked out flights & hotels to see the Stones & Primal Scream i`m not sure I can afford another gig :(

MoonlitSunshine 08-21-2006 06:10 AM

ah well. They sold out here in like 10 mins or something insane like that

Mr Sensitive 08-21-2006 06:31 AM

Ah I wish they would come where I live, not many decent bands do to be honest.

either/or 08-21-2006 06:36 AM

radiohead are good to shoot ducks to

Piss Me Off 08-22-2006 01:22 AM

Saw them at the V Festival, they were very very very brilliant, and then they played Creep in their second encore, which my geeky companion told me was very significant...
The new stuff sounded great as well.

Freakyclown 08-25-2006 04:38 PM

But there so depressing and also

MoonlitSunshine 08-25-2006 04:42 PM

Not live. Or at all, for that matter, but especially live. The crowd were so pumped it was amazing

ddp 09-02-2006 03:09 PM

Best Radiohead album to start with?

Ok I admit it I have not listened to much radiohead but the few songs I have heard have made me want to check out more.

What would you radiohead fans recommend for a first purchase?

I'm looking for the album most likely to turn me into a Raidiohead fan.

recommendations like:

The Clash = london calling
Led Zeppelin = zeppelin 4
Rush = Moving Pictures
Prince = Purple Rain
Miles Davis = Kind of Blue

MoonlitSunshine 09-02-2006 03:13 PM

That depends on what kind of music you like. Preferences?

And what songs did you hear?

I like all kinds of music. The music just has to be good. Actually don't know the titles of the songs I have heard. Friends of mine have played their songs in jam sessions I have been at and I thought the writing of the songs was interesting. Not like most pop songs.
I'd really be interested in the fans recommendations.
Usually there are specific albums that are viewed as classics from the artists. I am interested in what would be their Zeppelin IV or Sergeant Pepper.
What is your favourite?

MoonlitSunshine 09-02-2006 03:33 PM

hmmm, that's a tough one.

Radiohead have gone through stages in their music.

Their First, Pablo Honey, is generally viewed as their worst. it has quite a rough sound, very raw, but i like it, personally. But it isn't as good as their other albums. Notable song(s): Creep

their second and third albums, the bends and OK computer, are alike, but only relative to the rest of their work. I really like both of these, but I would prefer OK computer to The Bends

Then came a more electronic phase, with Kid A and Amnesiac, followed by Hail to the Thief, which was similar, but heading back towards guitars.

My favourite Album(s):
OK Computer (guitar melody based)
Hail to the thief (electronic Mainly)

Sorry to be so vague, but Radiohead are such a band that to take one album to represent them entirely wouldn't be doing justice to the band. I think of those two OK computer would be better for starting off, as it is generally their most acclaimed album, but others might have a different opinion.

Thanks for your opinion. That is what I am looking for.
I'm not saying I won't buy more records. I'm looking for the best way in. I like to start with one cd and take it from there.
I'm a guitar player (and lover) so it sounds like OK computer might appeal to me best.

MoonlitSunshine 09-02-2006 03:39 PM

ok then! If you like guitar, then if you like that, then try the bends, and then Hail to the thief. I think that'd work best, but I'm not sure.

Excuse my ignorance.

Yeah I'll listen to the same record over and over again when it is new and exciting. That's what music lovers do!!
Thanks I'll start with OK computer next time I'm in a record store.

Mama Booze 10-06-2006 05:56 PM

Happy Birthday Thom Yorke! :)

Calvin22 10-07-2006 01:08 PM

RadioHead are just simply brilliant and such iconic music.

Creep is the saddest song ever but seems to make me happy. It is such a powerful song with powerful lyrics. It desserves alot of praise from people.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-22-2006 02:17 PM

*Bump*

I just heard them covering Thief by Can

*drools* :D :D :D :D

NaNaNer 12-22-2006 02:22 PM

The only song I can ever remember by them is Karma Police and it sucked..so if someone has some recommendations by them I will take them and give this band another shot..if its worth it.

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-22-2006 02:26 PM

I would say A National Anthem , I practically orgasmed when I saw them play that live.

But I reckon you`d hate it.

swim 12-22-2006 02:32 PM

High and Dry is listener friendly and really good.
