Or an emotional Scrubs scene.

khfreek 03-08-2009 01:38 PM

Dashboard Confessional is OK... I certainly think True Love Waits deserves more credit than that though.

I think I'm more bugged by the fact that fairweather fans think that True Love Waits and Fake Plastic Trees are their best two songs.

khfreek 03-08-2009 02:32 PM

I see. That's a laugh, the band that put out Kid A's best song being one with only vocals and acoustic guitar

sweet_nothing 03-08-2009 03:39 PM

Gagging Order could be better than True Love Waits

If you're referring to How To Disappear then you've completely missed the point of that song.

I'm saying Radiohead is the band that put out Kid A. It's at the very least ironic that people's fav song by them (True Love Waits) would feature only vocals and acoustic guitar. I realize now that the sentence was poorly structured, sorry :)

Ah ok I've gotcha. To me it's just a sappy love song with no redeeming qualities.

On the subject of B-Sides, Talk Show Host is phenomenal, and when I saw them live, that was the one song they didn't play that I really wanted to hear. I think what they do with that song live these days is miles ahead of the official recording of it. Ed's guitar lick once the song picks up is mesmerizing.

debaserr 03-08-2009 07:05 PM

yea they seem to have pretty awesome setlists as a rule

"I'll be waiting, with a gun and a pack of sandwiches"

probably one of my favourite Radiohead lyrics.

Piss Me Off 03-09-2009 10:09 AM

dac 03-09-2009 10:10 AM

I highly recommend the 03 Earls Court performance though, if that's any consolation.

Ask Sweet Nothing, he has a huge collection I believe.

sweet_nothing 03-09-2009 02:52 PM

I can hook you up with the whole glastonbury show on video, and another show from paris where they played just Kid A and Amnesiac songs, the whole thumbs down webcast, and just about every performance on Later...With Jools Holland. But yeh on the audio side I can get you just about anything.

dac 03-09-2009 03:15 PM

Meeting People is Easy is also worth a watch or 6.

Dr_Rez 03-09-2009 03:18 PM

Well after getting annoyed with this thread for so ****ing long (considering its the only band thread thats gets bumped daily) I have finally warmed up to OK Computer.

Paranoid Android, Let Down, Karma Police, and a few others are quality tracks. Still having trouble with the new album though. Don't see what the fuss is about.

Most agree that IR is a great mix of electronics, pop, and rock, and it's very accessible compared to Kid A/Amnesiac. It's interesting that In Rainbows eludes you, that's the one that most people who aren't big fans connect with most easily.

Back to Radiohead though, does anyone else mildly dislike True Love Waits?

I actually like True Love Waits. As simple as it is, I like the chords and melody.

By the way, I'm glad to see some other people listening to The Album Leaf and The American Dollar; though I probably don't love it all, each definitely has some great material.

Actually I saw them on your post in the post rock thread and decided to give them a listen cause I've had them on my computer forever since a friend gave me some stuff. I liked The Album Leaf quite a lot, very Mogwai-esque in some senses. The American Dollar was here and there, nothing too outstanding IMO.

I actually kind of agree about both. I liked some parts of The American Dollar, but a lot of it seemed a little, bland, perhaps at times. I did like some of their stuff though. The Album Leaf on the other hand has some really great tracks that I instantly liked a lot, like The Light.

Just curious actually, which Album Leaf album and which American Dollar album did you listen to?

The American Dollar - A Memory Stream
The Album Leaf - In a Safe Place

Get "Into the Blue Again" by The Album Leaf if you can, and if you actually want to hear more American Dollar, get their self-titled album. If I remember correctly, A Memory Stream had a lot of busy drumming on a lot of the tracks that I wasn't exactly fond of. The American Dollar (self titled album) is a lot more subdued I think. Though I don't think you're going to find "stand-out" tracks necessarily, if you like soft/warm music and atmospheres, I think you could enjoy it.

I actually own all these, so there's a possibility they could end up in your hands.

I already have Into the Blue Again on my computer so I'll give it a listen before I go to bed... I'll let you know what I think of it in the post rock thread, as we are just a little off topic here ;)
