Britain is arguably better for rock...

America>Britain

Rock is better than all those other genres combined. And blues, the second best thing on your list, was greatly developed by British acts such as Cream, The Stones and Zed Zeppelin anyway.

America invented Rap? Pfft. It comes from jamacian soundsystems and european electronic music with a smattering of funk and soul. The Jamacians were 'toasting' in the 60's!

ffs. jackhammer you know as well as I do that hip-hop's emergence in the world might have been crafted from a menagerie of styles but it was largely the work of american artists to bear its fruit...

Of course it was but the simple fact of the matter is that Talking (toasting-Rapping) happened over dubplates in jamacian soundsystems to which America always seems to completely ignore with the emergence of rap. Many tracks were specifically created for this purpose. Of course it was completely modified an essentially completely honed by america but I like people to hear about the history too as it seems to have been swept under the carpet.

Yes but the transformation to hip-hop took place in America. Even if its roots lay outside, hip-hop has always been almost exclusively American.

so I feel comfortable sweeping it under the carpet

Wiki quotes FAIL. :D I have never read that page but it does mention soundsystem's! and again that poster said that America INVENTED Rap. I am saying that it has it roots in Jamacia. It was an assimilation. Nobody is saying that you don't do it the best. Forgive me for my history lesson and a little recap into Rap's roots.
