Not all Irish popular music is as bad as the drivel such as The Script and The Blizzards. There's a little guide to some of the better bands this island has spawned.

And also here's a very good blog covering up and coming Irish acts. They're a hit-and-miss bunch, but no worse than a lot of what the NME hypes and forgets about within a week.

After viewing the poll results It seems that the UK has the most amount of Americans and non-brits crossing over to vote for them. It's just as well. I agree with Jackhammer's original argument that comparing the per capita output of the US and the UK's respective contributions to the grand scheme of things really does qualify the UK for the honor.

You guys got yourselves a point there. I'm still going with the U.S., though, and it's not in an "America, FUCK YEAH" kind of way, either.

You could keep going.. yet British bands would still be better.

I strongly doubt listing bands is really the way to go about deciding which country has the better music.

So using some application on LastFM, here's what can be considered as my personal opinion on this subject:

That app is made of win.
Actually surprised there's so much Irish considering I listen to all of 4 Irish bands on anything resembling a regular basis.
