The UK, and really not just because I'm from there I just truly believe the music presently coming out of the UK is of a better standard. Other might disagree and that's fine.

I'm not sure if I would have picked India, in fact I really don't know which area of the world I would pick, but I couldn't agree more with everything else you've said. Which is why I find these debates so silly, and it really just seems like a petty excuse for Americans and Brits to argue about who is better.

It is just some links I made in my mind very far back ago. Just saying "Jazz improv", it was inspired by middle eastern Tarab improv which itself was inspired by Indian Raga... and bunch of other things of this kind, it's just too interlaced as I said to really know how it all came together.
but, imho, English talking countries kind of picked up from all around them but just did everything in a much better way. I guess the whole mix and match did the trick nicely.

Sander van Doorn and Tiësto as well but I'm not fans of their music. I USED to be a fan of Tiësto but damn not anymore. Sander van Doorn made a couple good tracks in the VERY beginning but not much after that.

I don't know if this was mentioned, but I'm not in the mood to read the entire thread.

The contest is obviously between the UK and the US...but does anyone notice that they both produce amazing bands, public interest just shifts from one to the other? At times a majority of American music is popular, at times it is the UK. One thing I have noticed, though, is that American music maintains a kind of consistent level of interest while there are spurts of UK obsession and then a total dropoff. That is why (at least here in the US) we always refer to these times as British invasions.

But this observation may just be because I'm American...

You're right, it is really interlaced, which is why it is impossible to pick one country out of a very small list of countries only from the Anglosphere... classical music I think also has had a huge influence on contemporary music and most of it came out of European countries like Germany.

The question of 'who makes the best music' to me is both redundant and ignorant to how the music industry operates and how any kind of art is formed.
