Now, for one, I wasn't being argumentative in the slightest. I was expressing a simple opinion, namely that the music that came out last year was, in my opinion, substantially better in overall quality and scope than the range of music that came out in 2002 (or any of the first five years of this decade for that matter). It is entirely irrelevant whether it was a good year for one type of music and a bad year for others, or whatever. This is strictly a question of pure quantity of top notch material being released. For me, 2007 wins hands down.

I actually agree. The vast majority of what I listen to that was released in this decade is between 2006 and the present.

In response to Lucifer Sam. You clearly do not know what trolling is. But I have no intention to indulge you on each of your ridiculous citations.

There was no attempt at flamebaiting or causing controversy in any of those posts. They all reflected my genuine opinion. So either you completely fail to see my intent, or are determined to conjecture and make needless arguments.

Once again, what I posted before in this thread reflects my true opinion. 2002 was not such a great year for music of any genre. It had a few very very good albums spanning a number of genres, granted, but most of the supposedly important releases were in reality quite mediocre. If you'd like to go into this in a bit more detail, I'd be perfectly happy too, after all I am about serious discussions, not pathetically throwing around completely needlessly offensive accusations to try to get a one up on somebody.

I don't think deerhunter has come out with an album I haven't liked tbh.

I don't like him either. I was at a festival this summer when he was headlining and left before he went on...royally pissed because all the other acts had to cut their sets short so he could play his in its entirety. Cunt.

Me too. And it's one of the only bands I listen to where every release is better than the last.

As it happens, I've come round to Deerhunter. I certainly wasn't convinced by Cryptograms but Microcastle is truly excellent, of that there is no denying.

I still am baffled at the amount of love Fleet Foxes' eponymous debut is receiving. For me, it's some of the most overrated garbage to come out this year. The EP, on the other hand, was great. But the album simply did not live up to the promise.

Once again I agree. Fleet Foxes are indeed garbage, from what I've heard, although I haven't heard the EP.
