Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig Lazarus Dig
The Mars Volta - Bedlam in Goliath
The Herd - Summerland
Electric President - Electric President

Can't really think of a fifth, I haven't picked up too much music released in 2008, shame on me.

I liked, let's see:

Gnarls Barkley - the odd couple

Kitty, Daisy & Lewis - Kitty, Daisy & Lewis (you should check that out! some great swing, blues, country stuff! It makes you move your ass and feet, no doubt!)

The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely (though I'm not sure about the whole album, will have to listen to it more often.. but have you heard "Carolina Drama"? great story telling song)

N.E.R.D. - seeing sounds (not as good as the first record, rather similar to the second, but much better!)

Erykah Badu - new amerykah

I was so dissapointed by the odd couple, because St. Elsewhere was so good.

Only 3 this year;

1. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!

2. Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes.

3. TV on the Radio - Dear Science.

4. The Raconteurs - Consoler of the Lonely

Those top 3 albums stand out more than any others.
No.4 qualifies for fanboy reasons only.

Not a vintage year for albums IMO, but not a bad year for hearing new bands (from previous years) that caught my attention.

If you have not done so already, go listen to The Bug, London Zoo.

I hate to provoke an argument, but this was one of the well-received albums this year that raised my ire. I thought that album was terrible; I couldn't even make it halfway through. What was it that you used to say: "the indie hype machine licking its own ass" or something like that? Yeah, that's what it seemed like. Even if there was something there, it was pretty mediocre songwriting and it seemed like a half-assed attempt at ripping a Psyence Fiction knock-off.

The fuck? You still haven't heard Bon Iver or you just didn't like it?

I got put off by all the fuss and when I skimmed through the album I was left wondering if I was missing something here. I really didn't give it enough time for the album to click with me...

...controversial I know.
