It seems like panther's having problems with only one file. It's what I'd suggest doing otherwise.

Try double-clicking and relocating a different file, making the song think that it's the song you're looking for.

Though you shouldn't be having problems deleting the song titles with an exclamation mark beside them. Try restarting iTunes or re-installing it if you've already done that.

If none of the above work, I'd dig around for that flash drive again.

Use the auto-monitor folder function so that it automatically updates any changes to your library. Oh no, wait a sec...iTunes still hasn't implemented this simple feature yet.

See the problem here is quite common, it seems you have a known virus known as "iTunes" installed on your computer. Uninstall this virus and everything will be just fine.

...and while you're at it, do a scan for a piece of crap called Safari that iTunes loves to install.

There's obviously some iTunes hate around : P
If you're like me, an individual comfortable with the iTunes set up, you know you're using it because Windows Media Player and winamp just don't give you the same flexibility, or they're lacking something. Or the sound quality just isn't the same.

There are definitely other media players out there that do wonderful things, but each has their short-comings.

Also, you need iTunes if you have an iPod. It just works a lot better.

Not hate, just common sense.

It's clear that people in charge at Apple aren't music lovers. iTunes (the program, not the store) is a terrible piece of software. A huuuuuge file to download that basically does nothing much.

I fail to see any sort of flexibility which you mention, especially compared to winamp and media player. iTunes may be fine for a few of my mates with no more than 20 cds but it cannot handle a moderate sized collection without starting to drag.

Then you look at the options you get with it....not much. Compare it to a lot better designed programs (which usually comes as very small file sizes) and you'll see that the options are very limited.

I'm not going to explain any further, unless someone asks, as I've mentioned plenty of times that iTunes is poor.

If you have an iPod, you sooooooo do not need to use iTunes.

I guess it depends on the individual, then.
I have a friend who has a few thousand songs in her library and it runs great. My personal experience with, say, winamp and windows media player has been terrible. The user interface just isn't as intuitive as iTunes, I find, and my songs used to mysteriously skip and sounded poor. These were songs ripped from unscratched CDs.

It's true that you don't need iTunes for iPods, but I find the synching options to work better with iTunes.

I haven't used winamp in a very long time, but I do remember it being sub-par. Maybe if the thread started actually posted again we could find out what his/her perferences are. Until then, we're just flinging poo at each-other for no reason.

If your guys' computers are so bad that they run poorly with iTunes installed then you have bigger problems to deal with.

It's not about computer power (top of the line) but about the performance compared to the competitors. iTunes is slower than most of the other big names and yet has drastically less features. So put it on the best computer or the worst, it will still run worse than the others.

I use it and I have never had an issue with it. I like its interface better than any other player I've tried, and I've tried a few. And yes for us iPod owners, it makes things a lot easier.
