Weird. There's plenty of bands that I used to be into that I've slowly lost interest in over the years but I always have retained kind of a soft spot for all of them.

scottsy 01-10-2009 09:00 PM

I have all of Garbage's albums and I totally loved the first two - both were awesome power pop / electronic fusion albums which sounded fresh and edgy for their time. Their lead singer had a tough, sensual and unique sounding voice, which I enjoyed alot...

Then along came the more condensed, commercial attempts on BeatifulGarbage, and that album was awful - a barely edgy Britney pop oriented album with none of the band's penchant for power pop, dirgey electronica or their sense of longing, yearing and complexity - just a hollow commercial attempt...

It totally turned me away from the band...

He's one of the few cases where a popular musician these days is actually good, don't sweat it.

I have to admit to not knowing a thing about Jason Mraz... what is his general style / genre of music...?

He's a mixture of pop and that alternative singer-songwriter style, like Jack Johnson and the like.

Here are his big hits.

The Remedy (I Won't Worry) 2002

Wordplay 2005

I'm Yours 2008

I'm a Mraz fan too.

FaSho 01-11-2009 01:45 PM

I was suprised to learn he had songs pre-I'm yours. But they're pretty good.

CandyLadyNJ66 01-11-2009 02:05 PM

I like The Britney album that has that breathe on me song on it. I also like her dave aude remixes.

I also like the first Spice Girls album and I'm not embarressed to say so.

I seriously don't get why this would be embarassing anyway. They were probably the best group out of the 90s teeny bopper pop movement and not bad by any means. I still get choked up whenever I hear Mama.

Also I like Aqua.

littleknowitall 01-11-2009 02:21 PM

I like Jamiraquai and I voted on xfactor once. =0

Depends on who you talk to but I agree. Mama chokes me up as well :)

When was it ever embarassing to like them?

FaSho 01-11-2009 02:59 PM

when The middle became popular. Which is a great song by the way.

The Unfan 01-11-2009 03:01 PM

Jimmy Eat World are one of those bands that are hit and miss. When they're on they're on, but more often than not they don't quite deliver.

Alfred 01-11-2009 03:05 PM

They're like Weezer, popular and quite mainstream, but by no means shitty.

FaSho 01-11-2009 03:12 PM

More like a more credible, less boring Weezer, that happen to have a few terrible songs.

Hey so do i :D
It's not a shame to like them, they've released a string of good albums. I got to see them at a festival nearly 4 years ago and they were good. Of all the bands that get labelled 'emo' they are prob the most respected and mature sounding.

I like a few crappy Metal bands such as Soil and Godsmack for some reason. I would call them easy listening-seriously. Easy to listen to. Not much attention needed and there's a guitar on it!

Kokoboten 01-12-2009 06:10 AM

I love ABBA songs !!

I have all three My Chemical Romance albums on my computer...

I thought Fall Out Boy's From Under the Cork Tree wasn't that bad.

I also own albums by The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Keane, and Hot Hot Heat.

I didn't think Red Hot Chili Peppers' Stadium Arcadium was as terrible as everyone else thought. It's not good, but there are some alright songs buried on both discs.

Also...American Idiot got me into Green Day my sophomore year. Now, you aren't cool unless you say Dookie is their only good album. I feel Insomniac is probably their best.

Hey no shame there. Make Up the Breakdown is a great album.

My darkest secret is that in 9th grade I played bass in a garage band with Michael McDonald. The band was called the Good Feelin' and Mike quit after about a year and told us that we really sucked.

pourmeanother 01-13-2009 02:54 PM

Middle school was a trying time for me...

Baha Men ("Who Let The Dogs Out"), Sisqo ("Thong Song"), Will Smith (Willennium), and more.

I also own on cassette: Space Jam soundtrack, Free Willy Soundtrack, Chumbawamba 'Tubthumper', and Eagle Eye Cherry.

Yeah, it took me a while to get my **** together...

WWWP 01-13-2009 03:13 PM

Space Jam is so awesome.

that Sisqo track in particular seemed to be everywhere..

Used to groove to this on kiss.fm, available in the London area. They should have done an album.
ah the early noughties... *smashes rose tinted glasses* yup, sh1t...

While not their greatest sounding album there is an interesting story behind it that almost makes it worth owning. Also, it isn't embarassing to own any Chumbawamba albums. They went from being one of the best punk bands to being one of the best folk-rock bands and managed to rip off major labels in the process.
