Not as good as The Litanies of Satan.

I love that I thought you were Pet Sounds for a second. I was so confused.

It might be because I'm a bit of a serial killer myself.

It feels sort of manipulative, to be honest. I had a period last year where I loved Sufjan Stevens though, so I kinda get it.

The beauty of the song with or without the lyricism is enough to stand on its own two feet and warrant impulsive repeat listens. The message behind the song hits home with me personally, but I could see it being a bit outrageous or forced to the point it's stretching it too far and too thin for some people.

A song can be simultaneously creepy and Beautiful. Angels and Fuselage by Drive by Truckers is another example.

Indeed. Creepy and beautiful mixes together like peanut butter and jelly for me. Sufjan's song isn't very creepy to me, though. Just beautiful in every way.

I need to check out Drive by Truckers.

Drive-By Truckers are an incredible band. The trilogy of Southern Rock Opera, Decoration Day, and The Dirty South is ridiculously strong - Southern Rock Opera is their most acclaimed album, but it's a little less immediate than the other two.
