Thanks for the welcome!

I'm sure there will always be good music being written: at any given point there is an inconceivable amount of creativity and feeling in the world! What kind of music are you into?

80's and 90's, so Older is what I prefer.. same with Video Games

It must be cuz of growing up and it all being so memorable/nostalgic..I can't relate to music or games nowadays for some reason, I've tried :P

I prefer modern art when it comes to... pretty much every artistic medium. Contemporary art? Yes. Modern music? Yes. Modern films? Yes. Modern TV story-telling? Yes.

It's not that I think old works are irrelevant. They aren't, and many of them are wonderful. I just prefer the work of people who refined a medium to those who invented aspects of it. I love seeing how all the techniques others pioneered come together.

I also tend to think that culture shapes the stories people tell in ways that make modern stories more relevant to me than older stories. An example of this is Rear Window: Excellently directed film, but the story does not impress me and many aspects that defined an earlier American culture are just frustrating as a viewer now, including the benevolent sexism and the characters' nosiness and rejection of clear facts (and preference for intuition).

To answer the question: I am young, and exploring music. At this point I am trying to see what music has to offer, and will give everything a try. Therefore I listen to music from the Medieval era to the present day. I am most knowledgeable about music from the Romantic era and early Modernism, but I'm finding that each era has its unique merits. When I say 'to the present day' I have largely meant classical, but the last few months, as I said, I've been getting into other genres, primarily "old music": Dark Side of the Moon; Sgt Pepper; Kind of Blue; Bitches Brew; A Love Supreme; and (one new) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I hadn't heard any of them! Talk about living under a rock. None of them have become favourites (yet) but they are all good.
