I'll admit it is pretty high maintenance in terms of tagging and sorting and stuff. The good thing is that my mate keeps a copy of all my music so I'm safe should anything go amiss.

But I suppose it isn't like you just woke up to having 100,000 songs. That's a pretty wise idea, especially with that amount of music. I'd be devastated if I lost that.

Dealing with the two first smaller categories is simple because you can just add them together to make one ranging from 1 to 4999 which is about the same range as any of the others (also explains why they're not f.ex from 1 to 2999 and then 3000 to 5999). Making them increasingly large in the other end wouldn't make much sense, though I can see why one might think it does The thing is we know there are some people who have way larger collections than others - we know there are statistical outliers. If we make supergroups spanning many more songs than the ones the averages fall into that we toss the outliers in, we lose a lot of information about them and they really are the most interesting... But if you have any good arguments as to why you think I should do what you suggest, I'll read and consider.

I have a little more than 3,000 songs. I know a lot of people download discographies but I've never liked ALL of any one artist's music.. ever. A lot of it is made up of single songs too since Trance, Electro, and Hardstyle hardly ever come out on albums. Only vinyls and single MP3s. I delete a lot of stuff too and only keep what I really like.. which gets old after awhile and replaced by new stuff.
