I think Mtv 2 brought the show back but it was overshadowed by Mtv's current programming of reality tv sh*t.
It's not what it used to be, times have changed and old formats don't work anymore.

I miss the music scene I grew up with (the mid to late '90s, basically). There are records from that period that I can't even look at with any kind of critical assessment because they're so much a part of my life and formative experience the music is inseparable from the memory. Actually I think it's that I miss more than the music itself--being so fully steeped and soaked in it.

It's like falling in love. Your first love always sticks with you as a unique and kind of untouchable experience, no matter how much and truly you can love someone else later in life.
That analogy at the end is so untrue for me. At least, with the ''being In love'' feeling, which is different from just loving. I've never actually loved a girl yet. I do love my family though.

I do know what you mean, nostalgia plays a huge role for some albums I like, but I can still think rationally about them. I know some of them suck balls and that some of them are good for what they do.

I love plenty of modern music, but I don't like any electronic music at all :c.

Do you mean, just electro dance-pop stuff, or ANY electronic music? Is Wendy Carlos bad? Tomita? Is electric guitar and midi keyboard bad? How's about going way back to Pierre Schaffer and musique concrete in the early 20th century? Is Therimin a no-no? What about Messien and his many works featuring the beautiful electronic sounds of the Ondes Martinot?

Electronic dance music and it's related techno-ey genres are such a tiny part of electroonic music as a whole, which is a branch of art music that has been growing steadily for many decades... It's completely fine not to like it, but I highly doubt anyone could not like ANY of it!

Through the magical power of recordings, that music is still here. Through the magical power of globalization and experimentation, there is exponentially more variety of music to listen today, than ever before.

¡Viva el futuro!

I used to listen to whatever was current, but around 2000 I sort of reacted to my dissatisfaction with music by picking up a lot of old bands that I hadn't listened to for a long time and started preferring a lot of stuff from the the '70s and '80s.
Whenever I try to listen to post-2000 music.......there still seems a sharp contrast between it and the stuff before it. Other than that, I think I fear that that I'm going to start preferring the post-2000 stuff and that it's going to change me as a person. I realize that today's music still has the "mainstream and alternatives" i.e if you don't like the mainstream you can listen to the alternatives like the "indie" bands. However I still feel that all post-2000 music tends to have a common theme. Maybe there is still good music somewhere, stuff that still has the feel of pre-2000 music, it's just much harder to find.

I know that question was directed at someone else but I would have to say pre-1990's music!?

Default People Just Get Complacent to old and boring

I used to think this way. Music back in the day seemed so much better but then I started to think about how my parents said the same thing about my music growing up. I started to say the same thing about my music to the youngins growing up. I happy to run across a video of an interview with Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Basically he says this and I quote,

“Music is alive and well…people just kind of get complacent to old and boring and forget how to go find new great music…People who say good music isn’t happening today just aren’t looking very hard or listening very hard…”

-Anthony Kiedis

When I heard this I was like wow...he has a point. Music is ever evolving, ever changing, that's the beauty of music. You just have to not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and be willing to listen to something new.

Why would it change you as a person? It's music, not the death of a family member.
