Best post ever.

Is he hated for anything other than his music being incredibly pretentious dull sh*te?

I heard he had a terrible personality, but I'm not sure why. I don't really want to listen to any interviews with him spouting bollocks.

Boring mathematical wankery. He was progressive for sure but the music lacks any real emotion imo.
And no, I'm not ****ing around.

Kurt Cobain def. I like Nirvana a lot but I don't understand why he got critical acclaim for rhyming his stream of conciousnesses and using them as lyrics....

Getting bummed would probably bring me to tears, I think I'd rather do that than listen to Genesis again.

Anyway here's my list.

Kurt Cobain
Morissey/Marr
Jeff Magnum
Bob Dylan
Nick Cave
Leonard Cohen
Elliott Smith
Nick Drake
Bon Iver
Conor Oberst
Isaac Brock
Noel Gallagher

Ranked in order from most tolerable to least. Phil Collins is more talented than these people.

It's because it works. Sometimes people's vomiting of stream of consciousness lyrics ends up becoming great songwriting if the vomit is somewhat truthful and backed up by good music. Same goes for Dylan and a bunch of other famous people who spewed normal words in an interesting way
