That REM cover is poor, Michael Stipe just doesn't have the voice for the song, the Yes cover is actually a great one.

Having heard both covers previously, I'd have to go with The Lemonheads.
It was on American Pie 2 after all
Not because I dislike Nirvana's cover, but I just can't listen to their version without thinking how much better Bowie's original was.

Lemonheads doens't differ much from original

Nirvana manage to stamp their own trademark on that Bowie song and the cover is the best bit of the entire set
