Hell yes. Dislike the amount of hate they get, sure, they aren't the best band in the world.. but people who tend to dislike them are people who take them seriously. Definitely not the approach you're meant to take with the Bizkit. Between the ages of 10 and 15 I listened to them a lot, so, they're a massive nostalgia kick for me and it was good to finally see them, albeit ten years too late but still.

Also, your list is great. Elastica, Deftones, Tokyo Police Club <333. Plug In Baby was considered for my list too as it was absolutely amazing live the both times I saw them this summer.. generally not a huge fan of Muse but that song is very good. Oh yeah, also Andrew Jackson Jihad.. amazing choice. My friend is supporting him on tour in October, so I'll be going along to see that.

I think the whole nu metal thing was generally awful, but I'll admit that I'd take Limp Bizkit over most of the other stuff from that era.

Kudos to Violent for Elastica. When I first heard their debut I couldn't stop listening to it for months.

To prepare for a week in the lake district surrounded by countryside, open fields, blue skies, mountains and well...lakes, i added 60 albums to my iPod. Excessive? Yeah, probably but then again I seemingly always had earphones in.

Midlake - Head Home
Above any other single track, i would say this became my soundtrack for that week inparticular. It just seemed to be such a perfect companion for where I was at the time and the scenery around me.

Camel - Lady Fantasy
Camel will probably be remembered as my BAND of the summer of 2010. Instantly fell in love with them and listened to this album inparticular non-stop for a while. This track inparticular really opened my eyes (and ears) to them. Really gorgeous, soft, Floyd-esque guitar solo's. Just a beautiful piece of music from start to finish. I honestly don't know how it took me so long to listen to this band.

Pulp - Something Changed
Very nostalgic song for me. I remember consistently stealing Different Class from my sister when I was a kid until i got my own copy of it. This is my favourite song on it. Fantastic use of strings and especially lyrics, tells a very good story and somehow manages to convey just as much sadness as it does happiness.

Porcupine Tree - Stop Swimming
A band i saw live for the first time this summer at an open air festival. The heavens opened and after a weekend of blistering sunshine, the nsite became a swamp. So many people left before the end of the last day and the crowds for the headliners became pathetic. I shivered consistently for 5 or 6 hours to the point I felt i was gonna be ill for weeks afterwards, the weight of a t shirt, shirt, jeans and denim jacket literally dragging me down for the rest of the day and who was the first band on stage to greet the rain? The band assigned the task of "cheering us all up with their own unique brand of wrist-slashing cheerful music" as frontman Steven Wilson put it. I played the hell out of The Sky Moves Sideways and Stupid Dream this summer and this is one of my favourite PT tracks.

AC/DC - Thunderstruck
Finally I got to see these guys live this summer! I've waited years and my patience was at last rewarded. It was years ago now in my teens when I never left the house without my black jacket on with the AC/DC logo across the back and I could not have been happier to have seen the band in all their expected, cheesy, over-the-top glory. This video is obviously not the best but it's from the gig I was at.

Scarling - Broken Record
Dreamy, female-fronted pop/shoegaze. Again a perfect travel companion for the greener areas of our beautiful country.

Eddie Vedder - Hard Sun
I'm not the biggest Pearl Jam fan. I mean, they were alright and everything but meh. So i wasn't necessarily expecting to go too crazy about this album but I actually very much enjoy it. Perfect folky little nuber/album when sitting in the car, driving through the country lanes or sitting out overlooking the lake in the burning hot sun.

Fugees - Ready or Not
I liked a couple of Fugees singles back when they came out but I never really got into them. For some reason I gave this album a go this summer and really got into it.

Take - Dream Suite
Downloaded after reading Sidewinders recommendations in Albums Your Digging and really got into this one too. Nice, chilled, downtempo hip-hop which is something I have been taking much more an interest in over this summer.

Rage Against The Machine - Microphone Fiend/Testify
I have recently gotten back into Rage Against The Machines 'Renegades' album. it may be a cover album but it's a damn good one, not to mention a creative one. So my Rage track for the summer has been Microphone Fiend. However, given I also finally fulfilled a dream of seeing these mothers live this summer, i had to mark the occasion with a decent quality video of the very opening of their set from Download festival.

Cypress Hill - Latin Lingo
A quick check of my Last.fm for the last three months and I am very surprised to see these guys SO high up. Well, Last.fm doesn't lie!

My Morning Jacket - Bermuda Highway
Still don't know what I make of these guys. Some of their stuff sounds great, some of it not so great. I fell in love with this song though. Really nice, mellow stuff.

Soft Machine - "All White"
It's certainly not the upbeat, happy song that most people would associate with their summers, but this song was an important fixture of summer 2010 for me. One night, a bunch of friends and I were camping in the woods, and there were coyotes all around the camp site, so we knew that we needed to at least keep the fire going so they wouldn't invade. One by one, my friends all fell asleep, and I was left awake, tending to the fire and alone with my thoughts. I put my iPod on to have something to do while I kept the fire burning, and wound up listening to this song on repeat until everyone else woke up, long after sunrise and the necessity to keep the fire burning had gone.

Phish - "Waste"
I spent so much of my summer learning this song on guitar. I will forever associate it with this summer.

The Mamas & the Papas - "California Dreamin' "
This is more of a "winter" song, but I have fond memories of singing this song dozens of times this summer.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - "Free Fallin' "
My two best friends and I always listen to this song on road trips. It's a fixture in our road trip routine.

Don McLean - "American Pie"
I'd heard this song probably hundred of times before this summer. One day, however, my friends and I were listening to this song, and all of us began to cry. I'm still not completely sure why, but it was a very intense and special moment.

CocoRosie - "Good Friday"
I was completely obsessed with this song for pretty much the entire month of July. As such, I was listening to it pretty much everywhere I went.

Stefani Germanotta - "Electric Kiss"
My 12-year-old sister told me to listen to something one day. It was this song. She wanted me to hear how different Lady Gaga sounded before she was Lady Gaga - much better. This made its way onto my iPod.

Rilo Kiley - "Glendora"
This song was in my song pretty much the entire summer. I randomly burst into song the entire summer with this song.

Phish - "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea"
This immediately became my most-listened song on iTunes and my iPod. Trey Anastasio can't sing to save his life, but I thought there was something almost...sweet about the cover. Yeah. Weird.

Queen - "The Prophet's Song"
I listened to this in an altered state of mind this summer, and I'll never forget the experience for as long as I live. It's almost the perfect song, in my opinion.

The Arcade Fire - "Wake Up"
My entire summer felt like it was set to this song. In fact, if there were a montage of my summer, this would be the song playing in the background, and it would be perfect.

Busdriver - "Imaginary Places"
This was on my party mix for the whole summer. I adore it. It is a true Summer 2010 song for me.

Megadeth have probably been the most important artist for me this summer. Been playing them so much.

Witch House has been blowing me away this summer. I'm gonna make a thread on it soon too.

Was blown away by this band earlier this summer. can't believe I didn't listen before.

Probably the best Emo song i've heard(I Hate myself are better but I call them Screamo so I can say the previous statement)

I had a total moment while listening to this one a couple of weeks ago. Fantastic song.

Been on a huge Shoegaze kick recently and this is maybe my favourite ever Shoegaze track.

Flux Of Pink Indians are so underrated.

I'm not a huge fan of this whole beach indie craze(Wavves is ****). But I can't deny that this is some great feel good summer music.

One of the dark horses of 2010. Great quality Stoner Metal.

Their 2010 album made me backtrack and get the others. Great for a sunny day.

Possibly the best track on Motorpsycho's fantastic 2010 album.

This song made me cry many a time this summer. Brilliant.

Absolutely. It's definitely not your average "indie" album. Lots of punk, prog, math rock influence in there.

I spent most of my summer just chilling with my friends outside at night, just looking at the stars and ****. These are the songs that take me back to that, either because we listened to them 15 times in a row (Pagan Poetry), or horribley sang-a-long to (Bankrupt On Selling), or whateva.
