Awesome, one of my favourite cuts from Clear Spot. One of the all around catchiest Beefheart tracks and I love how the heterophonic slide, really spices up the track. And of course the Beef always nails it live. 10/10

It's a cool enough track. Nothing to stand out about it though. ☆☆☆1/2

I liked the fat, heavy groove and the track had a lot of energy. Maybe not something I can see myself put on a playlist, but it was good for what it was. I imagine this band has some more interesting tracks somewhere, perhaps.
7/10 My pick: Pharaoh - Castles in the Sky (If you feel like you recognize the singer's voice, it's Tim Aymar, who sang on that Control Denied album). |
I'm listening to the weedly deedly metal intro and then the worst 90s Matt Barlow trad metal **** singer with no sense of taste ever ruins even irony. 3/10 and that's a gift.

Reminds me of All Tomorrow's Parties in a way. Sick vocals. Sexy sax. I wouldn't be surprised if they did some shows with This Heat. 8/10

The sax sounds like they accidentally invented record scratching.

Srry Frown, that song was unavailable for me even when i tried finding it.

Did you click the bandcamp link below the video?

I did.. Now. The beat was great and so was the singing at the beginning but then they started rapping. I didn't think the song needed that. 6/10

Bumping a once-popular thread that just dried up and died for no clear reason four years ago. Where is Black Francis? Probably got tired of waiting for a mini-review of this song:-
Quote:
I just listened once and went through these opinions in quick succession:- kind of average sounding/jumping around a lot/ is it supposed to be a rock opera?/nice, strong, vaguely familiar lead guitar at 3 mins in/at last the song has settled down. All that adds up to about 6/10. How about Big Electric Cat? A review anytime within the next 4 years would be fine. |
