Bulldog 08-01-2009 06:06 AM

Bumped because I just thought of one...

^ Don't like Elton John's music at all. This cover is gorgeous though.

Welcome to the Machine - Shadows Fall

Rusty Cage - Johhny Cash

Holy Diver - Kill Switch Engage

Imperial March - Metallica

White Wedding - Queens of the Stone Age

Money - Velvet Revolver

Blitzkrieg Bop - Rob Zombie

Scab-1 08-01-2009 06:14 PM

Framing hanley's cover of Lil' Wayne's "Lollipop" is really good
Muse's cover of Michael Buble's "Feeling good" is just amazing.

also there's

Marilyn Manson-"You spin me right round" (original by dead or alive)

A day to remember-"Since u been gone" (I personally don't like kelly clarkson)

And I like the Vanilla Sky's version of "Umbrella" better than Rihanna's.

Arya Stark 08-01-2009 10:56 PM

You think "You Spin Me Right Round" is a bad song?

scottsy 08-01-2009 11:35 PM

I've said it before elsewhere and I'll say it here because, well it suits perfectly...

Richard Cheese - Down With The Sickness

Holy Diver is a really good cover. Most of the metal fans I've talked to like it. And it surprises me but it's completly understandable.

I just personally like MM's version better. But I wouldn't call it bad

[[Read the title. It's in capitals.]]

I know what you mean, though. I like his version as well.

If anything, he's just changing it up to his own style. And I can respect artists that aren't afraid to do that.

That cover was horrible. Even more horrible than the original.

This I agree with, 100%. That is one of my favourite songs!

Yes, the version of Easy by Faith No More is absolutely fantastic, but the original song is also very good. For my money, believe it or not, and before it got horribly overplayed, The Ataris cover of "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley was far better than the pseudo-80s synth original. That, and they referenced Black Flag instead of the Grateful Dead. Right on.

MM never covered the song. Dope on the other hand, did a great cover of it.

Edit: I went to youtube to find a good video of the song to show you. I decided instead to break my computer in half out of frustration because the first comment on Dope's video was "This isn't the original, this song is from the fifties."

The internet is too dumb to survive.

Arya Stark 10-20-2009 09:07 AM

Marilyn Manson did cover the song.

I think Johnny Cash managed to raise "desperado" from the grave.

YouTube - marilyn manson-you spin me right round

It's not an actual video of his. Somebody put a bunch of his other videos together.

Nope. That's Dope's cover from the American Psycho soundtrack: http://www.amazon.com/American-Psych.../dp/B00004T0L1

Arya Stark 10-20-2009 12:08 PM

Interesting.

Hahaha, I like this comment on the video.

Bentleyboy007 (22 hours ago)
it´s not dope it´s justin timberlake feat. britney.

spark10036 10-20-2009 04:03 PM

well I have to comment that I disagree with the majority of the posts in this threats...I find the original versions of most songs mentioned better then their covers, and in any case I wouldn't call half of this songs bad...I even saw replies about "Money" and "Welcome to the Machine", which are considered, and are classics.

GoldFingers 99 Red Baloons cover. Its not that the song is originally bad, goldfinger just did it better.

I agree, Goldfinger did a quality cover, but Nena's original is rocking too. 7Seconds also did a fair cover of the song. For some reason, 99 Luft Balloons is a magnet for covers.

RonaldSays 10-21-2009 09:22 AM

Oh yeah Houston's version is way better...
Maybe it's less worse still **** though.

Engine 10-21-2009 09:47 AM

Pomplamoose does Beyonce..

Arya Stark 10-21-2009 11:39 AM

Heh heh...yes, I liked the guy getting so intense with the tamborine and the moment when the woman is eating cereal as she surveys him making music.

Arya Stark 10-21-2009 12:11 PM

Hehe, true that.

(I think that's the shortest post you've ever written.)

TyrantSong 10-21-2009 02:01 PM

So much better than the 50 cent version.

But the video....

My god no. The cover is terrible. I don't really like the original either, but it's not bad.

Yesssss. I downloaded this one a long time ago. Love the bridge, where she talks about how lame the lyrics are.

!Blink! 10-22-2009 04:21 PM

another song thats not bad, but a good cover is wounder wall by cartel, great song to begin with, cartel is a nice job of it. Not sure if it is better, just a good one to check out.

whitney houston is a crackhead angel and a very gifted singer

ebakez 10-22-2009 07:17 PM

would you count a remix as a cover?

storymilo 10-22-2009 07:18 PM

She's a talented singer sure but have you actually listened to that song? It takes about 2 minutes for her to get through each syllable at the beginning. And that's as far as I can get...

RonaldSays 10-23-2009 08:29 AM

No doubt she's a great singer but that doesn't automatically mean she makes good music. That song's just horrible. Talking about overdoing it. She's putting like every singing technique known to man in the first couple of sentences. Annoying as hell.

lu galasso 10-23-2009 09:07 AM

Hey! Wonderwall is a good song!

And I dislike Ryan Adams cover. So, is that a bad cover of a good song?

goodfoot 10-23-2009 03:50 PM

the clash, junco partner, originaly an old blues song by professer longhair, it's not fair to compare given the decades that seperate the songs but the clash really do this justice, for one of punk rocks leading bands to attempt it in the style they did respect!

goodfoot 10-24-2009 12:02 PM

alice russell, singing gnarls barkley's, crazy, i think it's an outstanding cover.
