Gotta agree with boo boo there... Return of the Giant Hogweed = Genesis in full early era flight of awesomeness!

Spunge's version of Belinda Carlisles' "Circles In The Sand" is pretty good, they take a bland pop record and turn it into a skapunk thrash. Pretty good IMO

Hey, I got a chance to give that cover of Hogweed.... it was actually pretty darn good!!! I am suprised at how the vocals sounded very gabriel - esque.... whether the singer was trying to sound that way or not, I dunno... but i have read in many places that the very unique phrasing and chord structure of early Genesis makes any singer sound a little bit like Gabriel... early critics after his departure from the band actually attacked Phil Collins for sounding too Gabriel like, which in the context of where their careers lked to, is kinda funny to read...

I guess the rest is according to your opinion. But how can a song that's not slutty be more slutty than another one...? |
Read the lyrics. The song is about a girl who can't talk to her boyfriend because she's too busy drinking and dancing in a club with other guys. That sounds pretty slutty to me.
Pomplamoose's version doesn't take itself too seriously. It's just as fun, and it's a welcome clever interpretation of a song dealing with otherwise very boring themes so prevalent in pop music these days. |
Can someone explain to me why "slutty" is a negative attribute for a song to possess?

Personally though, I don't like slutty girls so of course I don't like slutty songs. |

Hello there.
Ok, this is not really a bad song originally but a lot of folks might think it a weird, even corny song to attempt a cover of. The song is "ALL SHOOK UP" by Elvis and I did an odd-ball acoustic reggae cover of it. I did add a new chorus to make it a little more interesting. I then posted it onto a Guitarist's Forum and one guy thought it was better than the Elvis version! Hell, he might even be right, ha,ah.... Gordon. |
I actually thought Springsteen's original version of Blinded by the light sucked, but Manfred fixed that.

I think the Obadiah Parker cover of OutKast - Hey ya is just brilliant!!
|
Jamie Cullum's got a talent for this
Rihanna - Please don't stop the music Pharell ft Snoop - Frontin Jimi Hendrix - Wind cries mary (not a bad song though) And of course, the magnificent Richard Cheese |
30 Seconds To Mars covered Lady Gaga's Bad Romance.
That was skillful :) |
Tom Waits - Sea of Love

That's pretty cool, but aside from overexposure, there's nothing wrong with the original.

Don't feel like arguing, especially over music I don't like
No one will get me to like Metallica and I won't get anyone to not like Metallica |
Love the kazoo version. Love the kazoo. In fact: I need more kazoo (next to the cow bell)!

So a few weeks ago I heard this version of Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone."
Wish I could remember who did it. A Day To Remember? Anyways, I really liked it! lol |

I think Umbrella is a bad song. Not a Rhianna fan.
But I love Tegan and Sara's cover of Umbrella. Another cover by the same band, they did Steel Train's Turnpike Ghost. And, while I love Steel Train, I despise his voice in that song. Lastly, The Carpenters aren't any good in my opinion, but I really dig Sonic Youth's version of Superstar. |
Oh, I love Turnpike Ghost. It's my favorite song from their new album. Good to see another Steel Train fan! :D
|
I loved every single song on that album BUT that one. My favourite is still Grace.

It's originally done by Delaney and Bonnie & Friends, and their version is SICK - Clapton on guitar, Carl Radle on bass, Jim Gordon on drums...Bobby Keys and Jim Price on horns...and it was titled (Groupie) Superstar. So it would be a good song that got covered horribly and then reclaimed. |
Ack, sorry. I need to read up on my music history.
|
'sall good.
