For Jackhammer:
Deströyer 666—To the Devil His Due http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1oSvaRUA9f...BHis%2BDue.jpg Metal with a definite old-school vibe that I think you'll dig. This album is just an odds and ends collection of limited release 7 inches and things along those lines but in my humble opinion is actually better than the one studio album I have by these guys. Enjoy! |

Well, I might as well ask for a recommendation... If anyone knows a bit about my taste in music, then feel free to recommend an album or something.
(I guess this is how this thread works) |

I think that was the initial intent of this thread but it might have gone to a different direction since then. |

So dj, is this your payback for Diamanda Galas I sent you previously? :D But, I've heard this three times and you haven't finished Galas even once. Just saying :) Quote:
It is theatrical and with that typical gothic pathos, but it doesn't cross the line, it doesn't venture into self-parody. It comes dangerously close though in one song, the Edgar Alan Poe one (he's a must apparently, a gothic canon). Urgh, I didn't like it at all. Why does it have to be the longest one? Still, there are several very good songs to make up for it, one being 'Ich Wollte Hinaus In Den Garten...'. This one is the most folkish and "medieval" sounding. The other favorite is 'Lament', a good example of monumentality that doesn't go overboard. I also liked those really short tracks between these big songs, like passages. I'd say this middle part of the album is the strongest. Overall, a solid album. Thanks. |

I guess I just love mediocre **** but I still like that Flaw album. I randomly listen to it from time to time. |
Hey does somebody want to recommend me something?

For Jackhammer and Pedestrian:
http://i43.tower.com/images/mm106198...-cover-art.jpg A pretty straightforward blues rock album. Id say it sounds pretty similar to the black keys. Hopefully neither of you have heard it. Im pretty sure Jackhammer will like it, so hopefully Pedmaster does as well. ps: Was having trouble with link, so if one I sent doesnt work let me know. |
I suppose right now I am listening to a lot of
Miles DAvis The Antlers Grouper Beach House and CAss McCombs |

Nevertheless, always grateful to learn about an artist, and thank you for the recommendation. I'll give anything a fair shot. |

For Janszoon: http://data.lyrdb.com/cdcovers2/00/01/3a/00013a9b.jpg You mentioned that you would like to hear more from my recent journal post regarding Underworld, so here is where they really started. Ambient dance/techno music is about the right way to describe them. For Dankstra: http://misssssssskind.no.sapo.pt/dbi...dIn46960_f.jpg Spoken word mid 90's Electronica with a subversive edge that has dated really well. Quite hypnotic. For Vanilla: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HvUC_20Ajd...s320/chase.jpg Not sure if you have heard this U.K Drum N Bass album. It does however veer off in other directions- jungle, ambient, dubstep etc and might be a great intro to other electronic genres from over here. I am looking for more to post their tastes and what they are looking for as I don't get on MB as much as I used to and would really like to throw some more albums out there. |

Send me anything pretty much and I will get back to you with a mini-review. Oh actually, since my knowledge of punk is pretty limited maybe you can send something in that vein. it counts as a genre I don't listen to as often. Or maybe an album that is considered Avant Garde another genre I have overlooked. |

I sent CHCl3 Melvins' Bullhead a while back and never got a review... so I'm assuming he didn't like it. oh well

Am I the only one who sees the irony of people having to check people's Last Fm accounts to see what their musical tastes are ON A MUSIC FORUM.

So instead I am going to send you this: http://991.com/newGallery/Thievery-C...cks-318760.jpg This duo are D.J's who also make their own music but it is as D.J's that they are revered. They own a huge old house in Washington (I think) where they have chilled out nights belting out music from every corner of the earth. This comp takes you from the Bossa Nova of South America to the deep Dub of Jamaica through the beats of the middle east and the funky house of contemporary clubs in the U.K and U.S. All the while sounding completely effortless and cohesive. This album has remained one of my personal faves for over ten years and doesn't sound dated in the slightest. Hope you like at least some of it :) |

I don't know if you have heard these guys but you should. I think you may end up liking them. I caught wind of these guys in '05 I believe.

Could anybody recommend me something based on my Last.fm?
(Ignore Dream Theater and Coldplay. I haven't listened to them in forever, and I'll probably remove the former soon.) |
^Have you listened to Don Caballero I sent you?

It was my first time listening to Sludge Metal and it just didn't agree with my ears. I just didn't know how to make that into a sizable enough review. Also I believe Janszoon still owes me a review as well for Raw as Folk. |

from dankrsta:
Don Caballero - Don Caballero 2 http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...QL._SS500_.jpg I feel bad for forgetting about this for 2 months, so I finally listened to it. The drums on this instrumental album are great, and the other instruments on here are fine as well. I wasn't expecting this album to be drum-centric, but it became apparent to me shortly after I started listening. I haven't heard much math rock outside of Battles, but I felt that this was a good introduction to the genre. I'm sorry that this is so short. I've only written a few short reviews before now. |

Thank you. I really enjoyed this. I have come across Thievery Corporation in the past because I was looking for Industrial music and I think it was some user on Limewire that had them labeled wrong. I ended up picking up KMFDM that day and some others. I thought this album was going to be their work but if I had read your write-up before listening to it, I would have known that it was a comp. I love the way they put the comp together. I felt like I had my passport stamped and was taking a trip through different countries. |
