^^ The album Skally sent me was bad ass. Really great Thrash/Death Metal. I think my favourite songs were Scars and Lock Up Your Children.
|
Could anybody recommend me anything based on my Last.fm?

We like a lot of the same stuff, and this is one of my favourite albums, so perhaps you will enjoy it as well. |
^^Thanks! Due to me getting out of school recently, I actually had time to listen to this. I really enjoyed it, although it was pretty depressing.
Actually, this was the only album that was still in my Downloads folder when you recommended it to me. From the same link that you sent me. Can anybody recommend me anything else? |
Did I recommend that to you twice? Heavens. About time then.

I only noticed it when I was unzipping the ZIP you sent and it asked if I wanted to replace the old files. |
if someone wants to suggest me something based on my last.fm (overall), that'd be awesome.
|
If someone could recommend something for me, that would be awesome. It doesn't even have to follow my listening trends, just something that is mind blowingly amazing. In case you care, here's my Last.FM. Warning: My overall won't be of much use as my listening habits have drastically changed over the years. Also, I've been listening to a ton of CDs lately, and obviously don't scrobble them.
Blarobbarg EDIT- And, I guess specifically, if any of you are really into Shoegaze I would love to hear the SINGLE BEST Shoegaze album ever. Ever. But only if it really is going to completely blow my everloving mind. |
For Blarobbarg - an appropriately mind-blowing tropicalia album
Gilberto Gil - Gilberto Gil (1968) http://www.google.com/url?source=img...3-yTVcENWRoW5w from rateyourmusic: "So..anyone else ever wondered how it happens in Brazil? Like, you come to the studio, sit threre for a few hours, smoking, drinking beer, having a nap or a conversation, playing table tennis and then there's an album full of perfect pop songs laying in the bin? Or what?" @pedestrian: I've listened to Petr and the Wulf once now, gonna sit on it for a bit and re-listen, then post a review. Thanks. |
Awesome, thanks! Thank you also DocSoft for the shoegaze. I'll give both albums a few listens and come back with my reviews.

So Pedestrian sent me
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bpUOrc67oY...AndTheWulf.jpg and after listening to it a couple times, I really wanted to see what the man behind it all, Jay Munly, looked like. http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/...+Munly+002.jpg ... Now it may just be me, but isn't that the coolest damn artist photo you've seen in a long time? It really captures the essence of Mr. Munly's music, too: crisp and clean, yet creepy and engrossing at the same time. This album is a concept album based around the story of Peter and the Wolf, and it really took me a bit of research to fully appreciate the intricacies of the music here. Gothic Country, indeed. Anyone who's a fan of David Eugene Edward's work, either with 16 Horsepower or Wovenhand, will most certainly enjoy this. Thanks a bunch Pedestrian for the brilliant rec. |
Ah! Very pleased you enjoyed it. :)
|
That album was the real deal.
|
i know you don't listen to this (certainly me at first) but the moment i heard this old man do the lip sync and does the whole creepy look thing, i fell in love with the whole thing. scary yet lovely..

Please read the threads you are posting in before you post in them.

Anybody want to send me something that is atmospheric and melodic and maybe a little bit melancholic?
|
Alrighty, let's get this thang done.
http://www.ifmusic.co.uk/images/prod...ilbertogil.jpg I asked for something completely mind blowing. RVCA sent me this. Here's my thoughts! So the first full listen I had of this album, I was on my iPod and doing lawn work in the hot sun. I was quite impressed, and possibly because of the weather, really felt like the album was quite... summery. Very fun, excited, bouncy... I don't know. Just very summery. It was obvious from the beginning that it was a 60's record. It had a strong similar feel to some Beatles songs or early Alice Cooper even. As I listened to it more closely, I really began to hear the intricacies of the music. It had influences and facets all over the musical map. I was right the first time, there was a certain bounciness to the album... but there was more. Though I couldn't understand the lyrics, some songs really seemed liked they were conveying sadness, or even insanity. Anyway, was my mind blown? Noooooot exactly. This album was a winner. It had a few low moments, but all in all, was quite excellent. But my mind was not completely destroyed and taken over with an obsession for all things Gilberto Gil or tropicalia. That said, I did enjoy it. Bottom line? Good album, but not perfect. 7/10. PS- I'll get to my Astrobrite review later. Still mulling over it, honestly. |
Neat, glad you liked it :-)

This thread needs some serious life breathed into it people!
Here's one for Kayleigh: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_01oCh8_OGs...s400/beams.jpg I was listening to this the other day while surfing MB and thought it might be something that would strike your interest, but be slightly out of your comfort zone (some of the songs at least). Last.fm describes these guys as "electro, rock, techno, pop" and they've toured with the likes of Daft Punk. Anyway, check your PM's and enjoy! |
I'm in need of some good new music. Anyone wanna give me a suggestion?

judging by your last.fm......i think you'll really dig this band....and its just a little out of what appears to be your comfort zone.....check your pm and enjoy :) |

@RVCA I haven't listened to watershed yet, but that's only because I was too busy listening to the Alcest album you posted (which was fairly entertaining). Im gonna download the Opeth disk right now. |
Send me something, somebody.

I am a huge fan of technically advanced music. Yet, prefer it in the abstract sense like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum to the structure, traditional, "clean" Dreamtheater sense. Albeit, am open to a lot. From Kate Bush to Negativland to Slayer to King Crimson. |
alright Ska.....i was listening to this last night and thought it may fit your need for noise, avant, and maybe even metal (kind of)....if anything it is chock full of misanthropic weirdness.....and is one HELL of an album
