Well I just listened to it like 5 times and it was awsome. I fell asleep to it multiple times. Now dont think thats a bad thing either I have VERY high standards for music that gets put on repeat while I sleep. It almost sounded like Ulrich Shnauss at points. Great stuff thanks Wife!

pink floyd en bossa nova by Holly Wilson
Sent by Jackhammer

Well this was also ****ing wonderful. Seemed like a more depressing rendition of mainly DSOTM tracks but still in a pretty cool way. My favorite was probably the cover of money, different than any other version I have ever heard, and by now Iv heard a good few. Thanks Jackhammer, you probably dont remember but a long time ago you sent me Dub Side of the Moon and I still listen to that a lot, this I think it perhaps a notch below that (as I love the upbeat reggae remakes) but still a really cool take on some classic stuff.

Now if you happen to read this by any chance I could stumble on anything else the Easy A All Stars have done?

loved this....again speechless...just beautiful music...the entire concept behind this live album practically brings me to tears....it's such a beautiful pice of music which encompasses everything from classical orchestration, droning white noise, post-rock ambience, and of course Tibet's wonderful howling

which ironically is my only issue with it....i am very much what would be called a Current 93 fan boy....and there are basically two types of people in my little world....those who love David Tibet's voice and those who do not....so a small part of me feels that he shines a bit to much on this....not a bad thing by any means at all...except that it kind of makes it another Current 93 album.......there are only two track out of the nine where Tibet does not do vocals....and they are amazing and moving and just wonderful...not that the one's with him aren't....but it would be interesting to hear a full album of this line up without any vocals

i would very much like to see the dvd of this concert....as apparently there is also dance interpretation along with the music...i am sure it's as moving as the music

excellent choice for me CanwllCorfe....thank you

i know you like copShootcop....this is much worse in sound...kind of a sooo bad it's the best....and very very sarcastic to the point of shaking your head silliness....and the singer sounds like he's been huffing freon since birth....one of the greatest thing to have ever come from Austin Texas.....any of you who live there....or really know anything about Austin music will understand the name :)

i know we are only supposed to send one....but the full length is really short in time and the EP has their best songs....so it's basically a discography :)

Texas Is The Reason is not from Texas....but is rather comprised of a bunch of old NYC hardcore artists who want ed to do something new and different...in doing this they helped to spark a whole new genre....

enjoy :)

Yay! Can't wait...

BTW...I put that Walter Schreifels album on repeat today at work. I've gotta say at first I was scared to listen to it because our tastes in music seem so different. I need to listen to it again on normal speakers (instead of my wussy mp3 speakers), but as of now I'm really digging it. It was on repeat for the entire second half of the work day...not many albums get that much play, for real.

Yes it is. the problem I have is most music MADE for sleep is to repetitive predicable and boring. They end out just being hour long synth tracks that really do nothing for me. Haha and I did not mean thats all that album was good for I just chose to use it last night is all.

I just got this one myself, but after our conversation about doom metal the other day it immediately made me think of you. It's doomy and crunchy and psychedelic and beautifully melodic. Actually I think the album cover is a pretty good representation of what it sounds like. I think you might really dig it.

Yeah it worked quite well and really the first track was the only one I didn't like. I do have a major interest in electronic music so this was not a bad choice at all. A bit out of my comfort zone but that's a good thing. The instrumentation was really good. It's funny that I used to think of this type of stuff (and much electronic music) as being purely electronic but more and more I recognize the real instruments being played. This is probably because I've never played an instrument so I just assumed a lot of music was synthesized. This sounds live though.

CanwllCorfe sent me 2L8 - He and She Angry Enough to Keep Loving in the Dark Ages

http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...64f7b09c44.jpg

It was interesting and it kept my attention, that was a definite plus, but it didn't click with me. I'm not a huge fan of dissonance in music (probably why I didn't care for Soundtracks for the Blind), and like in the album that Jackhammer sent me, the singer has an accent that I don't particularly care for.

I'll probably come back to it in a bit. Dissonance tends to grow on me.

CanwllCorfe 01-06-2011 10:55 PM

It's good to see that it's challenging you! I never heard a Greek accent before. Very interesting. It was actually between that, the other one in the message, and 1908's The Sun the Light the Moon the Night. Which I actually found on accident. Much like the case with Black Paris 86.

Dr_Rez 01-06-2011 11:10 PM

At least it had a pretty ****ing cool cover.

Thanks for sending me this, CanwllCorfe, I'm definitely enjoying it. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect but it's quite good, sort of sounds like a cross between Fuck Buttons and M83 to me. It's absolutely massive sounding music too, the kind of stuff that would sound amazing cranked up to 11 in a cathedral or something. I like the variety from track to track too, though I think I prefer the more droney sounding tracks.

CanwllCorfe 01-07-2011 11:29 AM

Exactly! It definitely is massive. I love the sort of eerie, weird feeling it has. I'm glad you liked it! :D

RVCA 01-07-2011 11:39 AM

For TheCunningStunt...

Guster! You have zero Guster plays in your library, and that's a bit depressing. I think you could really appreciate their music. I'll let you choose between two albums because I'm not sure which one you'd like more.

Either...

Their 1999 release, Lost and Gone Forever, on which Brian is still drumming with bongos, is extremely well written and deceptively angry.

or their 2006 release, Ganging Up On The Sun, a more polished record with the same quality of intelligent lyrics as before with markedly improved vocals and lush intrumentation.

This song has it all... a noise rock section, a dream pop section, a bit of jazz, and superb storytelling to boot.

Hope you likes a little bit at least. Enjoy!

Like everyone else, I guess, I was pretty thrown be the first track. I actually liked it but it sounds absolutely nothing like the rest of the album so when I first heard it I was confused as to why you described this as a dub album. Once I got to the subsequent tracks I understood though. My first listen to the album was on my headphones, sick as a dog, walking to the pharmacy to pick up prescriptions, my head feeling like it was encased in layers of gauze. Even though I was feeling like crap, it was a perfect condition to be in for these songs—slightly out of it, feeling like I was drifting through the world. I like this album a lot, and though I think it's more of a grower than an album that immediately jumps out at you, I'm sure sure I'll be putting it on when I'm feeling mellow for a long time to come.

Yeah, I listened to this album again this morning after not hearing it for a while. I'd forgotten how different that first track was, and yes, it's definitely not very indicative of how the rest of the album sounds. I'm glad you, as well as rezz and sidewinder, stuck with it though, and ended up digging it. "Grower" isn't a bad thing in my book. :)

My favorite track on Admit One is "African Cherry". Something about it always makes me picture a hunter or a stalker creeping from tree to tree in a forest as they follow their prey. Then about halfway thru the song, the two come face to face in a clearing and circle each other, trying to decide what their next move will be. As the tension builds, they move closer and closer to each other, eying each other cautiously, and then...the prey scurries away, home free.

it is....possibly a masterpiece...."noir chill music" is an excellent description....this literally sounds like the soundtrack to a late 60s noir film revival.....the jazz undertones are amazing and blend perfectly into the odd mixture of rock and ambient music...this album simply works on so many levels

Neither what I've heard of Unsane or Neubauten do much for me, but this definitely does. Made me want to get a better music system, too - I bet it's the kind of album that sounds even better with the bass turned way up. And there's even a track that wouldn't be out of place on one of Brian Eno's more ambient records - very beautiful (and very unexpected). Thanks, bob.!! :)

Thrall seem to sound like a lot of bands and yet they are still able to have a certain unique sound about them. It's chaotic, it's angry, it's full of energy.
The lyrics are no doubt political, but I haven't had the chance to delve into them. I actually feel like I'm going to keep listening to this now and again. Thanks bob.
