...before you judge whether you like it or not?

A few listens. As to your question about whether I REALLY like it or not, alot. Depends on what it is though.

...before you think you've got your money's worth?

Eh, music is pretty inexpensive relative to most stuff out there. Unless it completely sucks, I don't really care.

...in general? (Meaning, how many times do you listen to any album in general)

That varies a ton based on how good it is. My favourite albums of all time I can't even imagine how many times I've listened to them. And I'll also have phases where I'll play one album non-stop, even if it isn't one of my favourites.

So the general consensus I'm hearing hear is that after about 10-20 listens, most albums start to get old? That would make any album that you listen to more than that and still very thoroughly enjoy a pretty damn good album right?

Most music is pretty simple and if you are used to the style it is in then a good close listen should tell you if it is worth hearing any of it a second time. I think the more music you listen through the better rather than just persevering with the same music lots of times.

not really, Beach Boys' Pet Sounds and Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, though both are awesome in my books, i'd really rather not listen to them again for the next 20 yrs or so

I will flip a 7 inch over again and again and again if I like it. I judge it on the first go around though.

Listen to it once. Usually I then give it another go so I could be more familiar with the material and form a more accurate opinion on it. And if I still like it it'll be a repeat album.

Depends on the band i think, Ive owed albums that took over 10 listens for me to reeeally appreciate them... other times you just know right off the bat... and funny how the album that took me longer to like, is one of my top 5 now, quite possibly for life, lol

I listen to a new album from start to finish the first time. I pick the tracks that I like and usually add them to a playlist and put them in rotation. Once I find elements of those tracks that I like, I'll go back over the skipped tracks after a few days to see if they contain those same elements (incase I missed them the first time).

I try to keep everything in a good mix so that I won't get burned out on an artist.
