Played a show with a local Vancouver crew named La Chinga last night and they absolutely killed it, fantastic performance, first time I've seen them. I've got no footage of it but there's this video from smaller venue on YouTube. Such a sucker for bands still playing classic rock, especially power trios.

Helmet
Saw them play the entire album of Betty on Friday. I've always respected these guys but never really gotten into them so it's a testament to their live sound that I enjoyed the show. Still probably not going to spend much time listening to their albums but I did think the music was pretty massive in person. I think what frustrates me about the band is they're almost really good, they're almost as powerful sounding as someone like Unsane or Godflesh, but they seem to always miss the mark and come off a little slight for some reason.

It was relatively small. I was probably standing twenty feet from Page Hamilton.

By the way, this is officially my 20,000th post. I'm glad it was used to reply to one of my favorite people.

Gonna to see... duh.

Killer show. Bloody Sabbath opened, so it was a double helping of awesomeness. Every single song the entire night had me head bangin. It was a smaller venue and my friend lives 1000 ft away, so we walked there and it helped that he new the hot bar tender too. The best part of the night was when the singer for Maiden was interacting with the audience, he made my friend an honorable Eddie mascot, since he's 6'5" with white hair and just an obnoxiously ugly ****er. He gave him a Trooper brew too. Great musicians, great crowd, and no pressure to stay sober for the drive home. It was a good night.

Nice. Not sure why some people rag on tribute bands.
