way to represent Reno
BÖC was really good, and they played (DF)TR last Friday at the historic Arcadia Theater in St Charles. April Wine was surprisingly good too. It was a smaller venue, and one of the highlights (for me anyway) was that an extremely hot girl was in the seat next to me, and the next seat after that was her male friend. When he got up to go take a leak, I asked her if that was her boyfriend, and she responded with a "No, I just work with that guy. He bought me a ticket.", to which I gave her a smile and a "Alright". We flirted through the entire show, giving each other sideways glances, and smiling when we'd catch one another checking each other out. It's kind of sad I never got her number. The show was great though, for a bunch of old geezers.

I recently went to the House of Blues in LA to watch Earl Sweatshirt perform
The show was incredible, Earl and his opnening acts: Remy Banks and Vince Staples killed.
As the show progressed more and more members of Odd Future showed up. Near the end of the show, Orange Juice began to play and out came Tyler, The Creator
the crowd went bezerk and the energy was turned way up
No one expected so much of odd future to be there considering how small the house of blues is (around 400 people).

Fantastic show. No frills, just a great performance. Lots of jamming, as expected, lots of people smoking pot, as expected, and just a great relaxed vibe.
Was this a festival you saw them at or a venue? Cause I feel smoking weed would be harder to get away with in a venue.

The Jesus and Mary Chain
The Black Ryder

let me just say that this was by far one of the greatest shows i have ever been to....up there with Kraftwerk

had i not had to drive three people back to Reno i would have in a heart beat reserved my room for another night and gone to Sundays show....i was actually planning on driving back to Reno dropping them off and just driving back to San Francisco until i ran into some heavy snow over Donner Pass and God smashed all happiness i could have had

still.....wow!

so understand that there were seven of us that went....and after a short stop into Berkley (on fucking graduation day!) to have a couple beers with an old friend and do some record shopping we arrived just as the opening act was starting....

The Black Ryder

really good shoegaze band.....a great performance....i bought their album

nuff said

The Jesus And Mary Chain

after an extremely long wait....albeit with a pretty damn good dj playing some great tunes.....a very long wait

JAMC came out and immediately said they were going to do a "hits" set and the play PsychoCandy from beginning to end....and then they opening with one of my favorite songs

April Skies

from this point on it was pure noise pop purrrrfection

other highlights.....head on, some candy talking and Upside Down (the one song i wanted to hear live)

PsychoCandy had such an amazing visual show with it....that my girlfriend actually had to walk out and just listen from the lobby...

i have to give props to the Warfield for actual;ly being able to capture the unique sound that this band makes and make it not sound like shit

amazing performance that i will not forget for a very long time

Ufomammut with Unsea
I didn't go the the Tuscon show, I went to the Philadelphia show. I just liked this poster.

I had never even heard of Unsea before this show and they were amazing. I'd describe them as somewhere between Earth and Electric Wizard but with black metal vocals. Very, very good. I was duly impressed.

Then Ufomammut, on their first North American tour incidentally, took the stage and blew my fucking mind right out the back of my head. I can't even begin to describe how awesome they were, they managed to sound totally different than they do on their albums yet absolutely fantastic nonetheless. They were so unbelievably tight and so incredibly heavy my brain struggled to even process the awesomeness that was taking place before me. Really, it was incredible, one of the best shows I've been to in the past decade. 3/4 of the members of Unsea even came up where we were standing and starting going nuts during Ufomammut's set, their bass player going off telling me how amazing he thought Ufomammut were. It's rare that I say this, but I really didn't want the set to end, I could have listened to Ufomammut for many, many more hours. In the end, all I could do was go shake Urlo's hand and say, "Amazing! Amazing!"

Well **** I didn't even know they're on tour. I'm gonna try to catch them in Glendale then. My concert buddy says he can't afford it but it sounds like it'll be worth going solo.

Lana Del Rey
Courtney Love

i just want to say that going from a sold out show at the Warfield....with a 2250 capacity...to a sold out show at Shoreline...22500....was a real eye opener

We showed up a little late due to the insane traffic around the venue....actually we ended up parking 2 miles away and just walking in...

When we arrive Love was about a quarter into her set....having never really been a fan of Hole i was more interested in seeing what train-wreck Love would be

i have to say she does not sound any different than she did on the recordings....and the crowd really received her well

Lana Del Rey fans smoke tons of pot

I have got to say that this woman has such an amazing voice.....i was really curious to hear the difference between the produced albums versus her voice live....and seriously there was very little difference

she came out to a roar of a standing audience and left to the same....a wonderful set going back and forth between Born to Die songs and Ultraviolence songs......she did an amazingly well done cover of Nico's Chelsea Girls before going into Brooklyn Baby (very clever Lana ) and she ended with a new song from the new album coming out in November

overall it was quite a sight....just wish i could have afforded to sit closer
