Probably a good idea since he quit both long ago. But nevertheless Nick Cave can easily give Tom Waits' lyrics a run for their money and Leonard Cohen is a better lyricist than both of them.

Agree with that. And Aesop van challenge anybody in the lyrics department.

Did someone say "Celebrity Deathmatch"? Waits vs Cohen AND Cave? Shouldn't we even it up a little, throw in a few more guys so Tom can at least take one arm from behind his back?

And BAM! as Waits smashes Cohen over the head with a Steinway! Ancient Cohen cracks and his skeleton runs away! Cave unleashes his Super Scowl! Waits staggers back, but grabs an accordion and hurls it at Cave's head...

I'm pretty sure Cohen's reaction to an attack would be to smoke a European cigarette and chuckle derisively.

I agree with the topic creator, who mentioned John Darnielle. I also want to add Peter Silberman, of The Antlers... although his falsetto doesn't really do his lyrics justice.

Waz? Glee? That'z no muzak!

Also, Thom Yorke and Isaac Brock can't be forgotten. And yeah, Nick Cave has some serious skills as well.
