Maybe using online sites, and copyright your material. If you are going to put your music out for the public to hear and it's good, maybe copyright so other people won't steal it. My cousin is in band and he got the name for his band from a video game which he did get permission for from software company, well he got a cease and desist letter from another band in California telling his band not to use the name or they would sue them. The legal side of music can be a hassle. Besides writing and performing songs they is a whole other side to the music industry.

for example a band like "The Whigs" NOW I dont much about them but i think they are pretty much a core band yeah they have a little cult following but most people will be like WHo teh F is that ...?????

i cant explain it but uhhh lets just say in terms of music styles its Garage rock and they never moved on from the Garage sound
