New Romanticism lasted just as long as disco and sold a shit ton of records.
Shall we induct A Flock Of Seagulls too?

Thanks! I thought I recognized him lol I can't believe I did not know that.

I've actually never listened to Bleach or Incesticide though so maybe someone who knows more about them could make a better suggestion for ya.
Thanks!

I think Nirvana was overrated on a personal note. There were to many horrible songs in their catalog and most people jumped on the bandwagon. AMG originally gave Bleach one star but after Nirvana got big Bleach was all of a sudden a five star album.
Interesting.

I really like them though!

But you are probably right, they did not deserve to get inducted before Chic in the RHOF.

lol

Comments like this is why I argue Disco is underrated. Disco bands and singers were just as technical with their instrumentation, experimentation and compositions just as rock bands and I would argue even more with certain songs.

I like Rock but it is overrated.

Nile Rodgers worked on something like 7 of the top 10 selling albums of 84 or 85 (I forget exactly which) including Madonna, Bowie, Duran Duran, Power Station, INXS, pretty much a who's who of that era.
Hell he worked with Daft Punk & Pharrell last year and they were 2 of the biggest selling artists of the past 12 months.

This is his recognition right there, I really don't know why you invest so much attention to some award ceremony nobody really gives a flying fuck about.

lol

But I wouldn't really define Nile Rogers as JUST Disco.

He is too versatile and eclectic of an artist to just box him as a Disco artist.

I don't care about the RHOF either but I think it is worth mentioning the type of artists they induct over others since the RHOF is a big part of the industry and since this discussion is on the type of artists/genres the industry praises over others, its definitely worth mentioning.

I can honestly predict that nobody cares one iota that Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates or Linda Ronstadt are going in. I've not seen a single thing written about it, I doubt I will after it's happened either. I doubt that 14 year old kids are going to rush out and buy Sledgehammer or Maneater because they suddenly become cool.
They'll buy Nirvana records but they would have done that regardless of this hall of fame because kids that age listening to music are drawn to a band like Nirvana.

Serious question, do you follow European club culture?

Love, it doesn't matter whether kids or the general public likes Diso music or not. The fact of the matter is, the music industry does not praise or credit the Disco singers and artists for their contributions because they feel Disco is not a serious musical genre. Just because kids don't care about it does not mean Disco artists don't deserve credit for their contributions.

No I do not follow them, why do you ask?

I'm pretty sure you can see them as featured artists on the record they are a part of and sometimes even in the title of the song they are featured in.They tend to always get credit.
