Anyone that ever disagrees with soulflower is a racist hypocrite. There is no alternative, you have to agree with her or you are ignorant and uneducated.

just a reminder you started this thread to open up debate. you brought up janet Jackson, said (amongst other things) that icons are remembered past their generation, and then people -who are on this site because they like music- disagreed. if musically inclined people cant name any of her songs, what does that mean? maybe nothing. maybe something. but then you called most of the site racist. really good and cool of you soulflower. not terrible at all.

oh and fyi I dont "mostly listen to rock". do you even have a clue what I listen to regularly? do you even have a clue what anyone here listens to?

It's funny but I didn't see anyone arguing with you about calling Michael Jackson, Prince, Marvin Gaye or Aretha Franklin icons. You also posted a picture of The Supremes so I guess you could add Diana Ross to that list too.
Whitney Houston maybe.

Yet as soon as people disagree about Janet Jackson's inclusion......
"This forum is full of racist people who only listen to rock, everybody else I speak to think she's a legend you're all snobs blah blah blah.'
despite the fact people have gone to the effort to debate with you explaining rationally why they think she isn't only for you to totally ignore all those points and push your own agenda.

When this thread started I knew as soon as I saw this that it would be you throwing a hissy fit when people didn't agree with your choices, looks like I was right. But even I was surprised at how childish you would become when you couldn't have your own way.

I really thought you were better than this.

Well there's your first mistake.

I've had perfectly civil debates with her in the past.

I've seen people get along with her in the past, but recently it's been this weird downward slope where whatever she posts about, she loses he control of what she wants to say and that results in her debate skills to go down the crapper.

Maybe, but I prefer to keep the spill your guts thread out of the music forums.

Two battles fought, and yet Vanilla Ice stills reigns supreme!

The peak of Janet Jackson's popilarity was during my pre-teen and teenage years and I remember it well. The reason I don't consider her an icon is that I think her popularity owes a huge amount to her being a Jackson and to spillover from the fact that her brother started peaking just a little before her. If she made the same songs on the same record label with same videos but was not a member of the Jackson family, I don't think she would have been nearly as popular.
