Well first off, I don't take anybody's opinion that seriously. I'm not going to cry over somebody not liking an album I like. It won't change my opinion. I'm interested in other opinions and perspectives, and I'd think people would be interested in mine too.

I do think the reasoning behind your statement is retarded. You won't take somebodies list seriously if they put a really good album at number one because you don't think it's number one. So if they put a really ****ty album at number one you'd respect it more because it's not following a trend? Do you hate people that **** in toilets too? Are toilets too mainstream?

Plus, I'm not really too into giving a **** what popular opinion is. I put Kendrick there because I liked that album. Don't really care if everybody loves or hates it, I loved it. But that Tetsuo & Youth, man. That was a great album. Front to back, nothing I ever skip.

Also, why is Frownland even a mod when all he seems to do lately is pick on Yorke Daddy? Is this your avante garde version of moderating?

People take things way too seriously here on these forums. Anteater is talking about the casual fan who calls TPAB GOAT because the internet tells them to. Maybe it was put in a way that made it sound like you or others on this forum were the subject of the statement, but I do not think you or anyone else on this forum were the subject of the statement.

I know he wasn't talking about me, I didn't put it at number one, but what he said is just dumb no matter what the intent was. He literally said that he can't take a list seriously for having TPAB at the top because it's too trendy. Even then, how can you decide who's doing it to follow a trend and who genuinely likes it? Maybe the only reason he didn't put TPAB at the top is because he's joining the trend of going against trends intentionally. But deep down it really was his favorite album of the year, he just can't admit because it's too trendy. But Yorke has him beat. Yorke put TPAB to join the trend of going against trends intentionally as he goes against the trend of going against a trend by joining the trend of adding TPAB at the top of the list. Yawn...you guys weren't even the subject of the statement. I've seen dozens of lists across the Internet already that have TPAB at #1 for reasons that have nothing to do with the adventurous musical side of it. There was nothing dumb about what I said: I question any list that puts an album like that at number one for reasons I have already mentioned. I didn't embellish my original statement to protect the feelings of every little pretty princess that could be butthurt, but The Identity Matrix got it and he saw me posting for the first time like two days ago. What does that say about the rest of you? :laughing:

You are awfully hard on yourself considering I didn't say anything at all in regards to anyone's intelligence. The music people gravitate to can indicate all kinds of things, but intelligence isn't one of them.

Sarcasm aside, do you think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the best album of 2010? Or do you think there was something more cultural at work by tastemakers to sway people into having that opinion?

I think it's easily in my top 5 from that year, it's a superb album.

Yorke, Ant is about the least elitist person I can think of, but apart from that, you're falling into the trap I did in 2008 that led to my leaving the site in a huff over people's elitist opinions. The point is, it does not matter. I hate Frownland's music, he hates mine and seldom if ever the twain shall meet. That doesn't mean we don't have respect for each other. I think he's an elitist, pretentious git and he thinks my music taste is up my arse. We both accept that, and continue to listen to the music we enjoy. Why let anyone tell you what you should listen to? Only you can prevent forest fires, I mean, decide what music you should or do listen to and enjoy. The fact that others may not like that music doesn't invalidate it.

You need to develop a thicker skin, mate, and not take everything so personally. I learned that lesson. Didn't stop me from being a whiny little bitch every so often, but not all the time at least.

I know him better than you. I've had conversations with him, read his writings, and I know he's not elitist. He's entitled to his views, same as you are to yours. It shouldn't change what you listen to. Everyone here hates Bon Jovi and Marillion: do I say they're elitist for that? Does it matter a **** to me? Do I stop listening to those bands or cry and grind my teeth in a corner in my bedroom? Well, I probably do the last, but that's for different reasons. ;)

Seriously, Ant's good people but if you're not going to get on with him you're not going to get on with him; don't be throwing insults around though just because you don't agree with his point of view, is what I'm saying. If we all did that, I'd be calling Frown all sorts of names and he'd be throwing them back at me. Or banning me, with his new superpowers as a mod.

I'm just saying don't make such a big deal out of it. You're not going to change his opinion nor he yours, so why not just agree to disagree and move on?
