Maybe if I do my special dance again I can summon the almighty Batlord to this thread and have him aid me in my quest to hurt the butts of the Ye Olde Hipsterdom.

Well first off, I don't take anybody's opinion that seriously. I'm not going to cry over somebody not liking an album I like. It won't change my opinion. I'm interested in other opinions and perspectives, and I'd think people would be interested in mine too.
I do think the reasoning behind your statement is retarded. You won't take somebodies list seriously if they put a really good album at number one because you don't think it's number one. So if they put a really ****ty album at number one you'd respect it more because it's not following a trend? Do you hate people that **** in toilets too? Are toilets too mainstream? Plus, I'm not really too into giving a **** what popular opinion is. I put Kendrick there because I liked that album. Don't really care if everybody loves or hates it, I loved it. But that Tetsuo & Youth, man. That was a great album. Front to back, nothing I ever skip. Also, why is Frownland even a mod when all he seems to do lately is pick on Yorke Daddy? Is this your avante garde version of moderating? |
People take things way too seriously here on these forums. Anteater is talking about the casual fan who calls TPAB GOAT because the internet tells them to. Maybe it was put in a way that made it sound like you or others on this forum were the subject of the statement, but I do not think you or anyone else on this forum were the subject of the statement.

I feel like this is the first year of my life where I have an informed opinion on music, so my Top 10 for 2015 is:
10. Twerps - Range Anxiety 09. Shamir - Ratchet 08. Passion Pit - Kindred 07. Father John Misty - I Love You, Honeybear 06. Dan Deacon - Gliss Riffer 05. Pond - Man It Feels Like Space Again 04. Of Monsters and Men - Beneath the Skin 03. Ezra Furman - Perpetual Motion People 02. Purity Ring - Another Eternity 01. Marina and the Diamonds - Froot I'd also like to add my Biggest Disappointments of 2015: 03. of Montreal - Aureate Gloom 02. Mumford & Sons - Wilder Mind 01. Sun Kil Moon - Universal Themes |

Obviously Lucem and I just don't quite meet up to the mighty Anteater's lofty intellectual standards
|
I honestly haven't listened to many 2015 albums the last half of this year so I'm behind as hell but this is maybe 10 albums I've really liked a lot in no real order
The Ark Work by Liturgy Just for a Thrill by Fabio Orsi Folk by Nick Hoppner Dumb Flesh by Blanck Mass Olympic Mess by Helm EMOTION by Carly Rae Jepsen All Fours by Bosse de Nage Imagine the Future by ASC Umbras de Barbagia by Downfall of Nur Today, I Wrote Nothing by Billy Woods throw some recs if you wish. A few hip hop albums that just slipped out of this 10, but wouldn't mind hearing what else the genre has to offer from this year. |

Sarcasm aside, do you think My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was the best album of 2010? Or do you think there was something more cultural at work by tastemakers to sway people into having that opinion? |
Quote:

I think it was easily the best album of that year
1. Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy 2. Mew - Eggs Are Funny 3. The National - High Violet 4. Snowing - I Could Do Whatever I Wanted If I Wanted 5. The Tallest Man on Earth - The Wild Hunt imo I don't think it's outwith the realms of possibility or indicative of a grand conspiracy that people and publications share the same AOTY. |
Yorke, Ant is about the least elitist person I can think of, but apart from that, you're falling into the trap I did in 2008 that led to my leaving the site in a huff over people's elitist opinions. The point is, it does not matter. I hate Frownland's music, he hates mine and seldom if ever the twain shall meet. That doesn't mean we don't have respect for each other. I think he's an elitist, pretentious git and he thinks my music taste is up my arse. We both accept that, and continue to listen to the music we enjoy. Why let anyone tell you what you should listen to? Only you can prevent forest fires, I mean, decide what music you should or do listen to and enjoy. The fact that others may not like that music doesn't invalidate it.
You need to develop a thicker skin, mate, and not take everything so personally. I learned that lesson. Didn't stop me from being a whiny little bitch every so often, but not all the time at least. |
The least elitist person you can think of says things like "but I still wouldn't take any list seriously that puts Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp A Butterfly at #1"? Man, you need to meet some genuinely not-elitist people.

Seriously, Ant's good people but if you're not going to get on with him you're not going to get on with him; don't be throwing insults around though just because you don't agree with his point of view, is what I'm saying. If we all did that, I'd be calling Frown all sorts of names and he'd be throwing them back at me. Or banning me, with his new superpowers as a mod. I'm just saying don't make such a big deal out of it. You're not going to change his opinion nor he yours, so why not just agree to disagree and move on? You're kind of souring the air with all this antagonism you're displaying, and unfortunately, knowing you the little I do, you'll soon start turning that on others who agree with him or try to defend or support him (it's kind of happening already with me, yeah?) and end up in a major ****storm, which could easily end with your being banned. So maybe just cool down and let it be, huh? |

lol TH it very clearly was and still is over on that front, and just like how we shouldn't care about what people say about music apparently I also do not care that you think he's a good guy
Also waiting for him to trash Manky and I for genuinely loving MBDTF |

Don't get the all the praise for MBDTF. I mean it's fine, it's decent, but nothing more. Much prefer 808s or Yeezus.
Mine for 2010: 1. Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz 2. Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma 3. Lloyd Miller & The Heliocentrics - OST 4. Adam Lane's Full Throttle Orchestra - Ashcan Rantings 5. Joanna Newsom - Have One on Me 6. Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here? 7. Daughters - Daughters 8. Tonbruket - Dan Berglund's Tonbruket 9. Big Blood - Dark Country Magic 10. Max Richter - Infra |

Anyway, like I say, do whatever you like. I just know I learned to become a duck and let it roll off my back. Life's so much easier that way. |

And Plainview was giving his opinion on 2010 because Anteater brought up 2010 since he believes MBDTF is comparable to TPAB in that he thinks neither are as good as people say |

Anyway I've decided now that my top 10 list is something like
1. Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly 2. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell 3. Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden of Delete (unordered from this point on) Grimes - Art Angels Lanterns on the Lake - Beings Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss Deafheaven - New Bermuda Vince Staples - Summertime '06 The Pop Group - Citizen Zombie Mercury Rev - The Light In You (my favorite of theirs since Deserter's Songs) I love Every Open Eye by Chvrches but I think it just misses the cut :( |

I can't do a top ten. These are just the albums that highlighted the year for me. No order is necessary.
Creepoid - Cemetery Highrise Slum Courtney Barnett - Sometimes I sit and think, and sometimes I just sit L'Orange & Jeremiah Jae - - The Night Took Us in Like Family Swans - The Gate Earl Sweatshirt - I Don't Like ****, I Don't Go Outside Meat Wave - Delusion Moon The World is a Beautiful Place, and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die - Harmlessness Ought - Sun Coming Down Kamasi Washington - The Epic Destroyer - Poison Season Chelsea Wolfe - Abyss Protomartyr - The Agent Intellect Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your Weapon Sunflower Bean - Show Me Your Seven Secrets Frog - Kind of Blah Delta Sleep - Twin Galaxies Girls Names - Arms Around a Vision |
^Forgot about L'Orange's output this year. I'm more fond of Time? Astonishing! With Kool Keith than the Jeremiah Jae one, mainly because of the production.

Glad to see The World is a Beautiful Place and I Am No Longer Afraid to Die getting a mention. I liked the record but didn't think it list worthy. Maybe ill throw it on again tonight and have it become my best record of 2015.
