As somebody who rarely listens to reggae, classical, country, metal and a few others it would be quite easy to say they are the most boring. So I will.

I wonder what percentage of western music that covers.

Reggae is great.

Strictly from my perspective rap is boring

Electronic music and beats can be exciting but I'd rather just no vocals

Nope, that depends on the artist.
You can list genres here you like so little they're boring to you, but also genres that just are pretty damn unexciting even if they can be well done and enjoyable in the right mood.

eh I mean I can see why people would call ambient or drone or minimalism etc "boring", but those are among my favorite genres. music with a slow burn

Reggae = Groovy, smoke a joint and think about peace or politics
Classical = If it's the 20th century, you'll never fall asleep to a lot of the heavy-weight composers, you'll be bombarded with more badassery than you can shake a stick at
Country = Depends but if it's dark, it's probably going to be compelling
Metal = This one's got to be a joke :wavey:

Goofle 06-27-2017 05:09 AM

Of course not. I try my best to listen to music that I want to listen to, and have spent a lot of time trying to up my game when it comes to metal, reggae and country. I think Classical music is the only genre that I would admit to not even making any attempt to check out the "good stuff".

Obviously things change and maybe some day I will not hold that opinion, but they are definitely the most boring to me.

Edit: I forgot ambient. Fuck ambient.

Frownland 06-27-2017 05:30 AM

Reggae's a great choice because it has amazingly little variety across artists in the genre.

The Batlord 06-27-2017 06:50 AM

I've never really been able to get into reggae either. It's fine sometimes, but nothing's ever stuck out to me whenever I've given it a shot. It's definitely a genre that's boring as **** at times.

And I'd stick up for ambient, as I've been slowly getting into it for a little while, but at this point I'd have nothing to say beyond, "Hey, I think it's pretty c00l, bro."
