It’s short sighted to think our digital mediums will out live our analog mediums.

If mankind continues along a non-cataclysmic trajectory:

Once a more efficient means of transferring data is invented the ones we use now will soon be forgotten. Over time, some recordings will be passed on and some will be lost.

A future archeologist would obviously have an easier time with a vinyl record than recreating our digital players not to mention recouping the data.

And if there is a global catastrophe the reasons that analog mediums would be more likely to survive are obvious. So either way my records are probably going to outlive the rest of my music collection.
