I love the atmosphere in her music in general, but especially this album. She does not tend to make very complex music. It's more about the mood, especially for the folky stuff (her later albums are more of an electronic thing).

I assume this is part of that "visual kei" Jappo glam metal scene or whatever? I still don't really know what defines that whole genre of music.
The singer is Kyo from Dir En Grey, which had early beginnings in the visual kei scene ~20 years ago. Just like Dir En Grey, his side band Sukekiyo is all over the place stylistically imo. You'll find j-rock, prog, visual kei, metal, post rock influences and more. I don't think so much about genre tbh. I'm not sure where to put this song, but I really like it. The dense layering, the melodies, the grooves, etc.

Hey guys, sorry I'm not responding right away. I'm finishing my classes this morning and then heading home for the weekend, so when I get back I'll take a look at all the stuff you've sent me.

Unorthodox but for some reason it's the first album that came to mind. It's what I ask people to judge their music taste. Do you or do you not like Little Criminals by Randy Newman? If the answer is no then we're off on the wrong foot.
I've never listened to that particular album, but seeing as you're so enthusiastic about it's quality I'll sit down and listen to the whole thing. Going in I would like to make clear I'm really not a fan of Newman's voice so that might effect my "review" of it. I'll try not to let it effect me to much though.

Alright, I listened. It's good! I don't think it's amazing persay nor am I a newfound Newman fan because of it, but there are some pretty greatmoments on this thing. 'Texas Girl' especially is great- it sounds like a slower Dire Straits tune which is definitely my thing. My main gripe is, as usual, his voice. The more I think about it his voice really does sound similar to Mark Knopfler's, but there's these little nuances in his diction and voice that irk me. I can't quite put my finger on exactly where they are but they're there. Again I think the album was overall pretty good and the aforementioned Texas Girl is going in my mental playlist of "beautifully melancholic tracks I'll listen to when the rain's falling".

Now that I've listened to this, Exo, I want to ask you to check out one of my all-time favorite 70's albums:

The Guess Who
So Long, Bannatyne

There are two possibilities here...

1: You've never heard this album.
2: ...you've probably never heard this album.

This album is as underrated as underrated gems come. Packed full of interesting and eclectic tunes (probably the most creative in TGW's catalog) and backed by the powerhouse voice of Burton Cummings, this **** (hopefully) will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between. It's seriously, to me, one of the most consistently good and entertaining albums of the 1970's and the best record of 1971. Check it out mate.

Knew you'd like the sax, which gives it kind of jazz-funk influenced sound, but yeah it could definitely be shorter.

One of my favorite electronic songs that I don't remember if I've brought up before:

Also, is this how my thread dies? With J-rock?
