Default Anyone here a George Michael Fan?

I'm a big fan of his work and I thought he was incredible but of course just like his 80s contemporaries he also had a tragic downfall... But anyways. Are you guys and gals a fan of his work music ?

I think he was a pop genius obviously, on a similar level to Michael Jackson and Prince. For some reason, musicians like that, at least in the pop sphere, who write, produce and sometimes play a lot/most of the instruments on their music, don't come by any more. I can only think of Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, although obviously he hasn't achieved the same level of success as the aforementioned.

I fondly remember this song/video (one of the best pop songs and most iconic videos of all time methinks):

He went a little blah in the latter part of his career, like all of them, but his creative peaks were astonishing.

To emerge from what could have been the career-wrecking shadow of teenyboppers Wham! and be able to forge his own serious musical career took real talent, and he had it in spades. One of my all time favourites from him, and a superb anti-war song.

I agree with this, to me his creative peak was LWP... I feel what he went through post LWP era his creativity was stifled for good.

Wow, just going through his wiki page, turns out that if you take away the covers version album, he only put out 4 solo albums (of original material). Not super productive.

Yeah, but was it all quality? If a band has 3 good albums, I'll pay to see them when they tour. Even if subsequent albums only provide one mediocre song.

His body of work is pretty weak to be honest... I feel LWP Vol 1 is George's only classic album.

I think Faith is insanely overrated.
