MusicBanter's Top Albums of 2021
Since I'm probably done checking out new music for this year, I might as well get this year's picks off my chest.
Similarly to last year, I'm not ranking, just listing this year's releases that I think are cool and deserve a listen. This year I'm even too lazy to add genres. As usual with me there's a whole bunch of so-called experimental stuff, like Free Jazz/Improv and AvantProg, also some more "normal" Jazz and Prog, as well as Psych/Kraut, Metal, Hip-Hop, Pop, Punk, Electronica and various other styles and genres. I also found quite a few 2020 albums this year that weren't included in my original list, so I'm including them here as well. Looking forward to other members' picks. Hmmmm......I think the only 2021 album I really enjoyed was 'Talk Memory' from BADBADNOTGOOD. Lorde's latest sucked. Lana's latest was underwhelming. Lordi had a new release but I didn't listen to it. Oh yeah, Donda kinda sucked too. Credit to Sonny Fodera for his latest, 'Wide Awake' - lots of great tunes, but like many a house album, it just doesn't benefit with the format.And don't get me started on the Manic Street Preachers 2021 album....
