I agree, Lazzara needs Nolan to counteract his seemingly cavalier demeanour.....oh yeah, Nolan faultlessly compliments Lazzara's voice.

I liked it and all, it's catchy as hell, but it's just not the same Taking Back Sunday I orginally loved. The lyrics aren't as deep, which I guess, in large part, has to do with John & Shaun leaving the band. It's a good CD, but it's not their best work.

They still rock live though. I just saw them at Warped on the 21st and they were amazing. I met Eddie Reyes and Mark O'Connell and they were two of the nicest people I've ever met.

One more thing: I don't like them being on MTV. It saddens me. Maybe I'm selfish, but I like feeling like I had the band to myself (even though I really don't because so many people know them anyway) and not having to worry about people always being like, "lYkE oMg!!!! tHoSe GuYs In ThAt OnE bAnD, lYkE tAkInG bAcK sOmEtHiNg R lYkE tOtAlLy HoTt!!! lYkE, oMg!!!" (It took me forever to type like that, and it's really annoying)
Blah. I don't care. I'm a selfish bitch.

I've had the CD for a while now (I downloaded it back in early July) but I did manage to get to the mall and buy it today. I really liked it when I first listened to it. But as I listened to it more I found myself not so thrilled by it. I have to say I liked Tell All Your Friends much more. I didn't want to believe that Nolan leaving would make such a huge difference, but his absence becomes appearant quickly. The songs don't have the same emotion and the lyrics on the new disk aren't the same. The highlights on the disk would have to be Bonus Mosh Pit Part 2, Slowdance On The Inside(more like the old stuff) and Little Devotional(very catchy). And I don't think getting play on MTV is such bad thing either. If they can become rich and famous doing what they love, all the best to them. Theres no need to be bitter because Average Joe enjoys whichever singles MTV decides to air of your once "little-known" band.

P.S. For anyone who hasn't checked out John's new band Straylight Run I suggest you do. You can download what they've tracked so far at www.straylightrun.com

Any individual who gets paid to do something that he or she loves to do is quite blessed. TBS's acceptance of MTV's offer isn't bad at all, some people would think you'd have to be out of your mind to turn down that kind of cash. It's the image MTV "artists" portray that has diminished whatever minuscule amount of respect i ever had for MTV to a sad inexsistence. That is why it's almost a dissapointment to see an original, talented, presumably unmaterialistic artist sign an agreeement with MTV enabling many viewers to subconciously place them next to brittany spears and the untalented likeness in a otherwise unheard of comparison. Music videos have also succeeded in creating a flawless image of "artists" thus forming a new surreal account for viewers. What are live shows for anyway? Ultimately it is great to see TBS succeed in ways some musicians could only dream of, I'm sure TBS has given hope to similar aspiring musicians.
