Something about At The Drive-In ruined by petty squabbling.
There's a stunning irony in there somewhere. |

At The Drive-In
Just wondering what people think of this band? well i love this band, i cant get enough of them and are probably one of my favorite bands.
there releases include... - 'Acrobatic Tenement' - 'In/Casino/Out' - 'Vaya EP' - 'Relationship of Command' well this band basically were at the cutting edge of hardcore and bought it to the surface as a popular music form, the four releases that i put above are their main releases and can understand the learning curve that they went through in their brief existance to become modern legends. Their first release 'Acrobatic Tenement' didnt really get them any fame and only just about kept them on their label, however when the 'Vaya EP' came out they emerged to be on top of their game and then bought out 'In/Casino/Out' (the first album i got!) which was recorded almost entirely live in the space of a week which is unheard of for modern bands to do. finally they bought out 'Relationship of Command' a completly stunning album which truely put them on top and by far their greatest release... and then they decided to split up! an idealistic aim of so many bands to bow out at the top of their game but few ever do so... my only wish is that they would get back together and just play for me personally!! |
i love this band, i really do. i also like the mars volta aswell, completley different but still has cedric and omar in it. have u heard the other band that the rest of at the drive in became-Sparta? i heard they are alrite. but yerr i have relationship of command and its a quality album fav tunes on it one armed scissor just the riff in that, arc arsenal and sleepwalk capsules.
i have a tune called helitrope aswell, but im unsure what album that is from. do you like the mars volta aswell, or just at the drive in, i think they are both amazing. i prefer the delouse in the commatorium tho to the mars voltas latest album. |
ATDI, TMV, and Sparta are all excellent bands, IM me for albums if you want.
|
ATDI forever. Definitely an inspiration to me musically.
|
hey i started this forum to try and get an answer to the meaning of one armed scissor and looked what it's turned into. A bunch of bad taste in music morons talking about i don't even care enough to read what!
|
Shut the **** up>
They may be off topic....but Who said they have bad taste in music |
I did. Just there. Why you defend?
|
And you came to this conclusion how?

i've heard of Sparta yes and they are totally awesome, a must if you like At the Drive-in, they have some real tallent and have been totally underated. and i think that Mars Volta are ok but i would be much happier to sit down and listen to ATDI or Sparta anyday. ooh and btw the song ''Helitrope'' is off the ''VAYA (EP)'' which is a good taste there!! If you havnt got the rest of the EP i'd recommend downloading it or whatever cus it has some really good songs there. |

|
I loved At the Drive-In. They were awesome, yes they split up into the mars volta and sparta. I personally think mars volta sucks. Sparta is awesome though ;)

Here's a fun story. I had tickets to see At the Drive-In in Nottingham about five years ago. We had a massive problem getting to the venue, none of us had ever travelled to Nottingham before so we had no idea where to go once we got off the train. The train itself was delayed by an hour, no problem, we'd left ourselves long enough to find the venue and have a drink before they came on anyway.
We got off the train and it was pitch-black, raining hard and there was nobody around who could direct us properly, so we got lost. After forty minutes of walking, we finally arrived at the venue to find the doors locked, and nothing but a piece of paper stapled to the door saying "SHOW CANCELLED". They split up three days later. Great band. Acted like a pack of bastards. |
At the Drive In
I love this band. With a passion. It's good stuff that everyone can appreciate.
And I didn't figure like putting this in a category and having people moan in it's the wrong spot. Genre doesn't matter with these guys. They are good for anyone who appreciates MUSIC. |
They're very good.
I like them alot. Well i only have relationship of command. But i like it. I need another album by them =/ |
I'll give you "This station is not operational" if you wanna send me that one jigga.
|
Word, lemme find it and rip it to this comp.

I love that album. People find them really annoying. But i like them. & i like the way they're so different from The Mars Volta (who i love too) I head one armed scissor A G E S ago, but didn't get the album till about a month ago. I wan't another one. eep. Ethan, sendme. :] |
"one armed scissor" is the tv friendly song, i've heard it on multiple shows (like mtv cribs and ****) and also this vh1 show when some girl fell and it played the "pucker up and kiss the asphalt now"
|
Haha.
Fits in. If you read their lyrics. Some are quite weird. But i like it. |
is it posible that this band doesn't have a thread already?
i heard one armed scissor when it first came out, liked it but did't follow through. i got the album a couple of years ago and i absolutely loved it. i got the extended version with two additional tracks. i also got in casino out but it's not as good as relationship of command.....awsome album...i tried to get some of my friends to listen to it but the comment was "em...that first track is loud"......:( |
Yep.
I think this band has a few threads. |
